Useful for tips Karen Ilka's fur on her back does not really stick up but it's fairly flat and sort of goes in wavy directions rather than going strait from withers to tail it improves after a bush but then goes back wavy, but a bath may well sort this, we've only bathed her about once so far, but has had paws hosed a couple of times.
Talking about clipping my riding instructor has a blue Merle border collie called Myrtle often gives her a drastic looking style leaves a tuft on tail and leaves her head and most of legs but cuts the rest off with a pair of scissors (which she actually does quite a neat job of), though she is sort of a farm dog and sleeps in there porch so I think she does this to stop her getting matted with mud.
