Captured Traits

Love all the chat about 'traits. There were a few that made me really smile as Evie has them too. Evie is big on cuddles and loves to put her paws on your shoulders for a hug. Like Theo she also seems to have an uncanning ability to find out anything new whether its plants in the garden or new cushions in the lounge and she definately knows when I wear anything new. Her Brother Freddie also has this trait and was very intrigued by a card that Win put up on their mantlepiece one day - he tried everything he could to remove it and in the end Win had to take it down as he just couldn't leave it. Too clever for their own good these Munsters. Evie is a major leaner and likes to push between your legs like a cat and Freddie sits with his bum on the sofa and his front paws on the floor. All of them are wonderful traits and show what characters they all are and why this breed are addictive. Love the photo of Oscar and Holly - great friendship there.
I am feeling a bit lost tonight as I am back to two dogs now that Win is back off her hols. Definately need to work on Tony - I had got used to having four dogs.

Brilliant am loving all these traits and characteristics. John, Logi carries a cushion around too, especially when the chiropractor turns up, he will grab a cushion and then put in down and lies down with his head on it!!! Summer opens doors and windows and then they are half brother and sister!

Lying on the floor or sofa with legs in the air is also Logi, but also Tarka too, he also comes up behind me on the sofa with his feet over my shoulders for a cuddle. Not sure if they are all inherited traits or breed characteristics, but I know Solo and jiggy love a good head rub like cats they used to, Jiggy still does rub on your legs, I also know that their off spring seem to do it too!!

We should all try and get photo's of these quirky things!!!

Mazy's traits

include very noisy yawning, especially first thing in the morning, don't need an alarm clock anymore.

She talks when anyone comes in the house, usually with something in her mouth, so it's all a bit muffled. As Ali knows, any treats are eaten as fast as she can, no time for playing with them.

If I'm busy doing something in the kitchen, she'll sometimes come up behind me really quietly and nudge me with her nose. Not sure what that's all about.

None of this bottom on settee business though, she's right up there stretched out to take up as much settee space as possible. If one of us gets up, she's straight there to take our place, Domino often does that too.

In the mornings she always lies behind me in the kitchen in the purpose built hole for the dogs while I make the children's lunches and she doesn't move until I've finished.

Loves sitting on our feet; very curious - always wants to explore anything new.

A very good nose (or memory?) - if Pam puts a new plant in the garden he will find it and dig it up a few days later!

Seriously, where do I start!
Talking - especially when she wants something be it a cuddle, dinner, water or just because she is bored!
Naughty sweeties - not to the same extent as Diva because Paddy is always too close by waiting to pounce if she lets the sweet go for a second.

Does anyone else have a munster that is so silent and sly that they can creep up on the other end of the sofa without you even realising! She is that sneeky! Especially when wet!
She sits on the stairs bum up a step and paws down a step.
Naughty toys. Not the biggest fan of tennis balls but loves any shape and size of frisbee, that is her absolute favourite.
Can't think of any else for now but I am sure there are hundreds more! I will keep my camera by my side tonight and try to get some snaps and if I am really on the ball a video of the silent creep up onto the couch.
Sorry I have not been on recently, been a bit busy with uni brothers wedding etc but will get back out with Camera this week for some snaps for here and photo site too.

Inherited Traits

Traits where do I start, as Oscar has lots of them, cant believe what a charater this breed has, Oscar is very talkative its not a bark its like a grumble and he only does this with me and its normally when he wants something or just wants a cuddle, he just stands in front of me and talks away for England (if only I could understand what he is saying), his other traits are when you are sitting in the chair he comes up and raps his front legs around your neck and gives you cuddles and big sloppy kisses and he will stay there until you ask him to get down, another thing he does every morning when Holly comes down stairs is sit on her knee, if anyone is lying on the floor he has to lay in between their legs with his legs up in the air, when he is asleep on the floor he uses his paws to cover his eyes that is a funny one will try get a picture of that, he also likes watching television especially if they is anything moving fast on the screen, he also like to sit at the front window for hours just watching the birds fly passed. Must admit never had a dog like him before, he just wants cuddling all the time, did not realise boys were so affectionate.

Ali you must be very proud of the off spring Logi has produced over the years, without him they would be no Oscar so I am grateful for that. If only I could convince Simon into getting another, one day I will hopefully!!!!! don't worry about Holly's name Ali, she thought it was quite funny. Will try get some pictures up later of Oscar's traits.

Inherited traits

Theo, too, likes to sit on steps with his backside on one and his paws on the step below; he grunts and sighs and will purr like a cat when being stroked. He will pick up a cushion and take it where he wants to lie; he lies on his back with his legs in the air but with one front paw in his mouth (sucking his thumb!).

He is very quick to learn - often teaching himself : to open doors; to use his paw to move things within reach of his mouth; to know when (and when not) to expect a tidbit - he knows, for example that he won't get any chocolate; when we take him out he heads for the gate or the car depending on what we are wearing; [I hate to admit this] he knows the 'Archers' music means dinner is on the way; he knows switching lights off means bedtime and the rattle of keys means an outing. Quite often we go for an out-and-back walk through the woods: after saying 'turn again Whittington' a couple of times we only have to say 'Whittington' and he turns round and hares back.

When he was young, he used to pick fruit off the trees but that has stopped. He has a very strong hunting instinct - but is the first dog we've had who isn't interested in toys. He likes a game of 'tug' or being chased but that's all. He loves to tear an old cloth to pieces.

Blitzan traits

Elsa is definitely a yawner - if I try and lie in in the morning she will sit in her bed and yawn very loudly several times, when I wake up and look at her she looks surprised she has woken me)lol She does it during the day to get attention too. She also lies on my feet when I'm trying to cook dinner. I have to move her out the way which I do by pushing her over - she won't get up but is happy to be slid across the floor, but five minutes later she is back!

She is a very laid back pup and likes to lie up side down like a baby in my arms which we all think very funny.

Inherited traits

Having been speaking to several owners recently I am loving hearing about the character traits that have been passed down the lines. No I don't mean looks, conformation and things breeders have to consider when breeding, I mean the things that make up thier characters.

Diva is well known for talking, she is a chatty girl and loves to tell you all about her day and her naughty sweeties, (doesn't she Elspeth!!!) Another of her traits is a noisy yawn, she never yawns silently to her it is the perfect time to be as noisy as possible, she doesn't bark it is all 'talking', well so far all her most of the people I have spoken to with her Eternal babies have all mentioned the noisy yawning the puppies do, Tetra and Darcy are no exception.

Solo's kids were all leaners and sitters, Solo always leaned against my legs whilst I did the washing up and he and Tarka would often sit thier bottoms on the sofa with front legs on the floor, whilst they had a fuss or watched TV. I would love to know what your Blitzans do, or Blitzan relations!!! Then I can see who has taken after who, Tarka still sits on the sofa, bum only!!

I am so sorry Mandy and Holly, I have no idea how I go the name wrong, please say sorry to Holly for me. I will alter it in a moment.

Shows this year, having spent the last 6 or 7 years going to 99% of the shows all over the UK, (Champ shows that is) I have taken time out this year, what with buying Mudlarks, having the babies and not being well I have really enjoyed the break. When chatting to Judith yesterday she pointed something out to me I hadn't clicked on, out of the 11 shows so far this year, Logi or his children have won either the CC or RCC at 8 shows, and at some both a son, daughter and Lgoi have had a top win. The winning dogs are Jasper, Logi, Tess, Elle and Hooch. Then although he doesn't have any young children yet this year, 4 of the best puppies are his Grand children. So although we aren't out much and wont be this year Blitzan bloodlines are doing very well, I am so proud of Logi and his children and grand children. Then when you think about it he is going to be a Dad in the near future and a Grand dad again so Logi is having a very good year. The nicest bit for me is that 2 of the winners are BLitzans but the others are from 3 other breeders which shows a consistency in Logi's progeny, and it continues in the next generation. Sorry if crowing but proud of my boy. Well done to all the winners, owners and breeders.

Karen, you should be very proud of Maggie picking up flyball so quickly, well done, I have a feeling Tetra will enjoy it too when she is old enough and if I ever get to training classes. I was hoping to take Summer but she is having a mega phantom and wouldn't break into a trot if her life depended on it. She is so quiet and moping, but scoffing any food she can get her paws on!!! I think if I mate her next season she will then be spayed, she is so hormonal bless her, she doesn't get grumpy with it but depressed and very quiet.

Another miserable day here weather wise, it's St Swithens day so I hope it doesn't rain for 40 days now!!

Its taken me for ever and a day to catch up with the blog not been on for a while, they are some great pictures on here, Mazy and Elsa really looked to have enjoyed meeting back up with their mum. Thanks for putting my picture on dog of the day, think names have got a bit mixed up my daughter is called Holly, we have had a laugh about it today and keep calling Holly (Rosie) Holly thought it was funny. We are going to the Leeds show just to watch though, we are taking Oscar along as well so he can get a feel for it, Holly said she wants to watch the first show so she can then decide if she wants to do it, I have a feeling when we get there she will regret not entering him. If she like it we will be doing the Darlington and Driffield show. I see Jasper did really well at Peterborough (Oscar's Dad) and also Oscar litter Sister won best puppy bitch and best puppy in breed.

Well done Maggie, it sounds like she loves flyball.

Clever Maggie

Took Maggie to flyball tonight and after only four classes she was the first out of all the beginners to do a full run get the ball out of the box herself and run back - Clever Maggie. She really enjoyed tonight. Elsa does miss her though and waits by the window until we return.

Little Miss Tetra vanished earlier and it was ominously quiet, I sneaked out wondering what I would find, only to find she had taken over my comfy chair and was enjoying the sunny weather in comfort!!!! So pampered Darcy and I sat on the step instead!!!! Tetra is really showing a lot of promise as an obedience dog and working gal, lovely steady points, front foot for feather, back for fur and so responsive, bless her I think James and Tetra will have a lot of fun, where as my boy maybe clever but he is more of a soft dollop!!!!

You're welcome both of you anytime. It was a fun day despite the weather wasn't it, Tetra, Darcy and Diva slept for the rest of the day!!!! It was so good to have four of the babies back together you can certainly tell they are all from the same litter which is lovely and wasn't Diva proud!!!! I was surprised to see how masculine Darcy looks beside his sisters, there's no mistaking he's a boy is there!?!

Picture taken this morning of Logi and Darcy have a play they really are so close. The pair of them adore each other and Logi is very protective and fatherly of Darcy, he's not that bothered by Tetra, he just thinks Darcy is there to me looked after!!! Never known two boys so close. Even when Diva was in season it didn't alter.

Anyway next time we all meet up we should be living at Mudlarks and can have our group training session!!! Of course if you fancy coming again sooner you would be very welcome, any of you. I suppose our next big meet up is at Paignton.

for a fab day out Ali and Andrew. Mazy loved seeing everyone and dogs again, in fact she slept all the way home and only woke briefly for tea (although I'm not sure she needed it!!) Thank goodness for a bit of dry weather to visit Mudlarks, what a lovely location, your plans sound wonderful.

Karen , even Richard is impressed with the feeding table and Mazy used it this evening, she definitely approves. Thank you Frank for making them.

Ali and Andrew for a lovely day - Mudlarks was great despite the rain and lovely to see it's potential. It was lovely to see all the pups running around with their mum. You live in a very pretty part of England although the roads could do with being a bit wider )lol Elsa slept all the way home exhausted and has now had her dinner and is playing with Maggie who was over the moon to see her back. It was lovely to see you again too Karen and a very lively Mazy! They are all such lovely pups. Frank is glad you liked the tables. I am going to rest now and will upload some pictures later. Puppy reunion

The two Karens and their girls came for a visit and we took Mum and babies up to Mudlarks, we had a great time despite the rain and it was lovely to see Mazy and Elsa again, thanks for coming girls it was a lovely day.

Taleulah

This is Taleulah, Prima's litter sister who I have just mated to Strider, Judiths boy, (Rixbriar Blaze of Glory) Puppies hopefully due 2nd September!!!! She is such a gorgeous girl and so like Prima. As Prima skipped yet another season it was perfect timing for Taleulah.

Andy and I got married 12 weeks ago on Friday (we celebrate each week! :) )- Ludo was a little bit young for page boy duties but he did make it down for some pics. Also you are right about Coronation Park. Andy and I moved here 3 years ago now - time flies! We should get the boys together!

Hi Tor I think I recognise the place in your photo, that's Coronation Park in Dartmouth isn't it? Lovely part of the world, I had an idyllic childhood about a mile up the river at Galmpton Creek.

Jed's doing fine but I haven't had much time to do any lessons with him lately, been very busy as David and I got married last Saturday. Its taken us 14 years to get round to it but it was one hell of a party!! Jed was very well behaved and loved all the people, didn't like the fireworks though (hope we haven't ruined him). Will try and get some good photos of him for your album Ali.

Love the haymaking pics and the pic of Mazy. Her expression is just like Ludo's. Glad you like the photo Tessa. It's amazing what he'll do for a stick. I know you have to be so careful as sticks can be dangerous if you throw them etc but he found that little one and he'll do more for a stick (however small) than a treat. Andy sent me a text at work to say he was on the photoblog and I was chuffed to bits!

Fab video Ali - not a bad life is it!!! Certainly shows the fun and spirit of Munsters. Good luck to all going to Leeds. We will not be at any shows until October now due to Holiday commitments etc - will be more organised next year if we carry on with it. I'm sure all the pups will do well - the only problem is they are all lovely ( don't envy the judge his/hers job). Wonderful picture of Tor and Ludo on dog of the day.

I got very wet this morning, walking through long wet grass, Domino is yet to dry out. It is cooler here today, quite pleasant actually. I'm really looking forward to Leeds, not that I think Mazy will behave (miracles might happen) but I think we're going to camp for two nights, like we did for the LMC show, so will have a mini holiday. Just hope it's not quite as wet. It will be lovely to meet up with the other puppies too.

We were practicing retrieves at puppy training yesterday but I don't think Mazy has quite got the idea. At home she will bring the toy back to me no problem, but yesterday she would go and fetch the toy and insisted that her puppy friends should play with her instead of bringing it back to me. She did a distance sit and down very nicely though (and got one of Penny's Bronze certificates for distance control) until it started raining and then she refused to lie on the wet grass.

Sorry I'm not keeping up too well, have had a busy few days and frantically trying to get things up together ready for our school holidays which also start in 2 weeks. Lets hope we have some good sunny days. My children are off for 7 weeks this time.

Wet and cooler here today, I know I will end up with a houseful of soggy dogs after thier walk, the grass is long and very wet. James was a happy chap this morning it has just dawned on him that he breaks up in just 2 weeks and then it's Leeds the puppies first show, I'm not so excited at that prospect as the training has been a bit lacking!!!!!

Morning

Haymaking has started and we all had fun yesterday evening playing with the bails of hay. Some of you may know we used to keep horses but Ella our last died about 18 months ago aged 32 and we still very much miss her. We miss having horses out the back so my mother, who's land it is has contacted a chap who keeps Shires and is looking for grazing. We are hoping he will bring them to our fields in the next few days and so we are all getting excited at the thought of having horses again!

Morning all, I was asked at Windsor how Dudley is growing up and how he is doing, (or Button as he was known), so here are some photo's from Ann that were taken recently. He still has his Button, and not many spots at all, still a very striking young man. Ann was saying he is just so laid back and such a sweetie pie. Dudley and Ann's Grandson, Issac, are the best of friends and Issac loves to spend his time playing with Dudley who is just so laid back and gentle with him, basically he is a typical Blitzan Munsterlander!!!!! Nice to see Mathilde too, she is looking very well and can't you tell she is Summer's daughter!!!

Belated Birthday wishes to Karen, hope you had a nice day, did you get taken out wined and dined ? Whatever you did hope you enjoyed your birthday.
Hope you are feeling better now Ali, and nice that you got a bit of a break from routine, and got to go to the show. Sorry Narla and I could not meet up, but it is such a long way for me to drive on my own, and I had no cover for Morgan and Gizmo.
My best friend Moira will be back from holiday this weekend so hopefully I shouldn't have any problems from now on for a while.

Gizmo had his haircut and now feels a lot better, I tried to get a picture of him last night, but you know what these superstars are like, he just wouldn't comply and kept avoiding the camera lol.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, we had very heavy rain yesterday, but it is fine today and a little cooler.

No sign of Narla coming into season yet, but don't think it will be long and then they will have one hell of a blind date !!!!

Windosr and catch up

Thank you for the congrats for my boy Logi. I was very proud of him as to be honest I probably wasn't really up to showing after my time in hospital and he knew it. Andrew managed to get time out to come with me and we took the two easy ones Diva and Logi. Logi always performs well but at Windsor he wouldn't, he wouldn't move very quickly and all he wanted to do in the ring was cuddle me and lean on me, I am quite sure (and so were those who knew him) that he was saying you're not well Mum and shouldn't do this!!!! Still he still was worthy of the RCC without putting on a performance so I was proud. Diva won 4th which considering she was in a large Open class, not long had babies and still has boobies I was very pleased with her too. It was the tonic I needed, to get out for a few hours, we home by lunchtime, having stocked up with essentials such as trip sticks!!!!

Judith you made the right decision, far too hot if sat in traffic and Strider's 'date' was more important!!!

Glad you had a good time yesterday Karen, it's hot here already so I have got the dog's bath filling up as I type this, think they are going to need somewhere to cool off!!!

for all your birthday wishes. I had a nice morning shopping, things for me and then had a quiet afternoon until school finished. Charlotte and her friend performed a couple of dances with their dance school at a local fete this evening.

Jo, what a worry that someone is trying to poison the dogs and yes it still hot here, we haven't had the thunderstorms yet either, not here anyway, it's very humid.

Hope you have a good one! I was catching up on the blogger, is it still hot there? It is hot here too but that is why we moved here, most people here have air conditioning so the dogs and people can get out of the heat if they wish, and the lake and the pool come in handy too. There have been reports of possible dog poisoning at the dog beach I always go to and one lady lost her Golden the other day, and 3 more incidents in the last week. So i will be keeping the dogs on leash there. I would love to catch the bastard and shove some, ~well you know! He should stay out of the "Dog park" if he doesn't like dogs!!!

Cooling Off

Not taken today but this is where we went for our walk, it was that hot I felt like diving in with them, but we all enjoyed the day.

I Wish

No Judith the pool was at a Hotel in Delph, Oldham. I wish we did have a pool especially at the moment, as it is so hot !!!! I was thinking of buying one of those very large children's ones, as they are not that expensive now, but not sure if it would stand a Munsterlander jumping in and out, has anybody got one ???
We went for a walk at the Lakes at Alkrington woods, and my daughter Jenny came with her Cavalier, I didn't take the camera as no pockets big enough, but will try and sort some pictures from previous visits out, and upload later.
Well done to Logi and all the other winners today, and also to Narla's half sister Gelda who got BoB. Hope you all got back home safely, and no cases of heat exhaustion.

Puppies

Meet the Family

This is Gizmo, he is almost totally blind now, but it doesn't stop him ruling the roost !!!!

The other pictures are of Morgan (Springer) and Narla. My daughter Vanessa with her Partner Michael, the Bride and Groom to be, and Jenny my youngest daughter looking on.

And of course Dave and I at yet another wedding, we have been to a lot this year and Vanessa has been bridesmaid six times, they will all be returning the compliment and she will also be having her three little cousins as flower girls, so going to be a whole posse of them going down the aisle !!!! Sorry about the quality they are just family shots but it may help put faces to names.

I won't be going to Windsor now, as Dave is away and I wouldn't be able to arrange cover for Morgan and Gizmo, but hope to see some of you at future shows.

Narla and Logi will have to wait for their hot date !!!
