Well done all at the fun/Companion shows this weekend. I agree they are great fun, very relaxing, not far to drive to, parking is usually very close too.

Here's Domino's tongue, I actually have no photos of Mazy showing hers! I'm sure we've got older photos with Domino's looking longer too.
Hi all,
Firstly sorry to heard about tilly Karen.
Secondly i got my grades were good 1a,4c's,4d's soon starting college doing business/ict.
Thirdly i have done two fun show this weekend, on sunday i got shortlisted in av gundog with my cocker, won junior handling, 3rd in waggist tail nearly got best novetly and today got 1st in waggist tail nothing else.
Well done Karen and Mazy.
I will not be on here for a few days i am in the isle of sheppy for tomorrow morning until late thursday so will catch up on friday.

Fun dogs show and it was Fun!!!!

I had forgotten what fun Companion Dog shows are!!!! We took Tarka, Zeta, Darcy, Tetra and Prima, the others are over quallified to go!!! Pleased to say Tetra seems to have gotten over her worries since Paignton, she was perfect bless her. Darcy was 3rd in a huge AV puppy class, beaten by a Min PIn and a Sheltie, I think can't quite remember know they were small dogs, Prima and James were 2nd in AV Gundog which was excellent, Lyn Read was there with Pheonix and he was 3rd so a nice result for Munsties!!!
Andrew went in Verteran with a slightly tatty Tarka and came 2nd, Tetra was 2nd prettiest bitch, Darcy was 2nd Most handsome dog, Zeta went in for Dog judge would most like to take home with Andrew and it was so funny, the judge decided to help her make her decision she would take each dog for a walk across the ring, she did 5 no problem but took Zeta from Andrew, and Ze slipped her collar and ran round behind Andrews leg where she peered out at the judge and up at Andrew, the whole crowd laughed and arrred!!! She wouldn't leave her Daddy!!!! All in all a lot of fun, very warm though, won two teddies in a tombola which Tetra and Darcy were well happy with. There were a group of early 20's there with a dog and watching about 8 of them, they came over and said they felt Darcy was the nicest dog there and fell in love with him, they also thought his name was most appropriate so he repaid thier compliments by launching and landing on thier laps, yes all of them!!!
Dogs are all crashed now and so is James!!! Hope you all have had fun too.

Well

I think Logi rivals Darcy!!!!
Gorgeous picture of Misty bless her, Tarka is deaf now too, but she has very quickly learnt hand signals and still enjoys life so it's not all bad for her.
Hope you are feeling much more comfortable very very soon Kat, I'm sure Lula will produce anyday now, Loudon has her box set up and ready and all is organised so she can produce whenever she is ready now!!!
Thank you Sandra, must say I think I picked the right year to have some time off from showing, as we may not be out there doing much but Logi's children and our breeding certainly are, Jasper and Eva are catching up Logi's CC tally, I feel very proud of them all and my boy!!!! Sandra what you say about group competition is true, Diva has been shortlisted once at Champ shows and placed three times in an open show, but then she doesn't get to many open shows, Logi did manage to get group 2 at WELKS a few years back, that is something I will always treasure the memory of. The only other Munster to manage that high in a champ show group was Logi's Uncle, Sh Ch Blitzan Ragamuffin, Dylan, so a good record but not great considereing the times we have been in groups, like you said Munster's often get ignored or overlooked.
Anyway hope you all have a good bank holiday, damp here but not actually raining so nipping out for a while.

Thankfully Ali we were not on the beach when the Rock slide happened, it was not far from where we were staying though, we also stayed in the Old Town, its really nice there.

I have been looking through my pictures and I cannot find one to beat Darcy's tongue it goes on forever!! Did find this picture though of Misty my Springer Spaniel she is a special old laCheck Spellingdy and we love her to bits, her earring has started to go and she has bad arthritis due to hip displasia in her back end but she still managed to find the energy to come on walks with Oscar even though she struggled to get up from been asleep bless her.

Quick catch up...

Hi all,

Carefully balancing a laptop on my very bruised legs I've been reading through the last few days posts. Was kept in over night in hospital, but out Friday and now on the mend, although with bruised legs it's amazing the things we take for granted that we do, that I'm finding somewhat challenging to say the least. Thankfully Neil's looking after me and off work for another week. I've been given a walkie talkie to stop me shouting when I need help to get up, reach something, generally move too far. Not abusing it though otherwise I think it'll be taken away.

Karen - so sorry about Tilly, brought a tear to my eye - my heart really goes out to you, her owner and your family - she really was beautiful. I hope Lydia managed to enjoy her birthday.

Well done Karen and Mazy that's a great achievement - having only recently been introduced to the world of dog shows I find it all fascinating.

Also congrats Narla & Logi - tis the season for lots of new puppy news. I'm excitedly awaiting Talleulah news on puppies - it's what's making me rest and follow doctors orders to the letter to help me recover quickly.

Big hugs to lots of you with good and sad news.

Will check back when I can - hopefully lots more over the coming days.

Hi All

First of all big congratulations to Karen and Mazy, and very well done, it is always hard in the variety classes, at least the Judge knew what breed she was, I have been to shows where the judge has thought Narla was a Springer Spaniel, must be some sort of giant variety LOL.
But I do think the more Large Munsterlanders get out there the more recognised they will become. We have some lovely dogs in our breed and they should be doing a lot more in the Group competitions, but very often just don't get a second look.

I see that Logi's son got the Challenge Certificate at the Scottish Kennel Club and also BOB, so very well done to him, and another Blitzan dog was also very highly placed. A Logi daughter also took the Bitch Challenge Certificate, so a good day for the Blitzan family in Scotland. Very well done to them all and all the other competitors.

Lovely picture of all the dogs pointing together, they must have certainly picked up the scent of something.
And talking about scenting, little Elsa showing her tracking abilities, at least you know Karen the instincts are all there if you decide to work Elsa in the future.
Sounds like Lydia had a lovely birthday, bet the dogs thought it was their birthday to, all the attention and fuss, and joining in the fun.

Narla is starting to show a little this week, but I am not really sure if it would be visable in a picture yet, she has started to loose a bit of her tuck up and her waist, and she definitely looks wider to me around her ribcage, but quite a few weeks to go yet, and last week the vet said the puppies would only be about the size of a 50p piece at this stage, but will probably double in size week by week from now on.

Lins I would love to keep more than one, but I haven't really got the room or the stamina to keep up with more than one puppy at a time, especially when you get to the adolescent stage.
But I am sure I will be shedding loads of tears when they go to their new homes, but at least a lot of the owners will be either members of or joining the Blitzan Blog so I will be able to stay in touch and see lots of pictures hopefully.

Princesses

Well love the head shots of my princesses. Stella is in training to be a princess, the only reason is that she is just a bit more of a tomboy. Keisha loves to go out and roll in mud and fox's s??t. Good for the complexion!! Stella loves having her bronzer put on and before now alittle foundation !!!!!
Off from work now for 7 days, have lots to catch up on and a show next week. Must look out some tongue pics but need to go and walk dogs now before it starts to rain.

Hi all

Don't think I would find a picture to beat Darcy's tongue! That goes on forever!

Mandy - glad you enjoyed your holiday and love the picture with all three dogs sitting together - they certainly looked puffed out!

Lydia loved her birthday yesterday - they weren't as noisy as I thought cos they chose to watch Marley and Me on DVD - I went in to check on them late in the evening because they were so quiet and they were all sitting there sobbing! Maggie and Elsa were so lovely with all the noise going on yesterday in the garden and loved all the attention they got - and the girls loved giving them cuddles. They all decided to take a walk round the fields in the afternoon - my mother has mowed a path around them so it's easier to walk through and so I told them to just follow the mowed paths around the fields. Elsa was looking over the fence at them until they disappeared from view and then howled to be let out. I decided to open the gate and let her run after them, the funny thing was though, instead of taking a straight line directly in the direction of the girls - she put her nose to the ground and tracked exactly where they had walked until she found them, which took her in the opposite direction to start with. So funny to watch her weaving around following their scent. I knew when she had found them though cos I could hear the screams - think she made them jump)lol - she came running back looking so pleased with herself and then shot off again.

Karen - Well Done for getting first yesterday! Clever Mazy!!!

Morning all

Morning all, lovely pictures Mandy, nice to have you back, we have been to Albufeira, few years ago now, but we have a villa in the old part, with a pool, which was lovely, we hired a car and had a really relaxing time, were you on the beach whent he rock slide happened last week?????
WELL DONE KAREN AND MAZY - you did really well to win an AV Gundog class, Munsterlanders don't usually get to win AV classes, bodes well for the future!! Mazy looks lovely in the puppy group too, well done you pair!!
Can see a theme developing on here!!!! Who has the longest tongue!! After Mandy's pictures I thought I would add this one of Darcy and then when I can I will find Logi too!!! A challenge for you to find the longest tongue!!!!
KAren I hope the girls had a good sleepover and your whole household is not too tired this morning!!!!
Sandra any pictures of the blooming Mum, Narla? He she expanding well?

Saturday, 29 August 2009

My tongue is longer than your tongue!!!!!!!!

Took these pictures just before we went on holiday think they were competing for who had the longest tongue and the other is all three on the point at the same time don't no what they had found!!!!

Well done Karen and Mazy, we are doing the Darlington and Driffield show, well Holly is she is braver than me. Karen hope Lydia has a lovely birthday.

Sandra we stayed in Albufeira the old town we absolutely loved it so piece full compared to the new town which we went to a few years ago, would definitely recommend it, just glad to be back home with the dogs. Tessa do agree Oscar does look like his dad from the pictures I have seen of Jasper, hopefully I will get to meet up with Carol and Jasper at one of the shows, hope Oscar follows in his footsteps.

Mazy won her class today

We went to an Open Show at Exeter today and Mazy won Best AV Gundog Puppy. Very proud of her, she behaved perfectly for me. Mazy was the only Munsterlander there, but a lady I spoke to said they would happily put on a LM class for us next year if there is a few more of us interested.
Karen - hope the sleepover goes well, Happy Birthday to Lydia.
Judith, that is a lovely head shot of Keisha.
Good luck to Holly for ring craft, which show will we see you at?
Cat - great to have you back, I was wondering about Jumble, she's doing very well, would love to see some photos of her now.

Happy Birthday

Glad to hear you are keeping busy Karen and a Big Happy Birthday to Lydia, 11 today quite the young lady now then, hope she has a good time with her friends.
I can remember my girls having sleepovers, they all used to turn up with sleeping bags and quilts, and you could hear them giggling late into the night, but great fun !!

Loved all the head shots, and the one of Princess Keisha today is particularly lovely, all the dogs have such expressive faces.
Nice to have you back Mandy and a lovely picture of Oscar, where abouts in Portugal did you stay ? We used to holiday there a lot when my girls were young, we used to stay in Alvor and that area.

Bailey looks very happy and healthy, loved the photo of him and Dad, it is amazing how these dogs just love to have a cuddle, and will balance themselves on your knee, Dad doesn't seem to mind though.
Hope you are having a nice weekend away Ali, have you taken the dogs with you ?
Thank you all so much for your kind words, it really means a lot. It is Lydia's eleventh birthday today so having a busy day with family round this morning and she has some friends coming at 5 for a sleepover party so been good to keep my mind busy. Lydia was upset yesterday but is enjoying her birthday today. It was a bit strange going round the paddocks with the dogs this afternoon - seemed very empty again.

It is a beautiful picture of Keisha - she has lovely long ears - very pretty.
Hope you are feeling OK today Karen. How have your girls taken it? So very very sad.
Lovely picture of Keisha today on the blog. She is a beautiful girl Judith. You are so right Ali all the head shots have been wonderful they really do have a look that melts your heart.!!!!
Karen I am so sorry to hear about poor beautiful Tilly, god what an awful heartbreaking thing to have to face. Love you all of you, god so shocking and not sure what else to say, except lots of love, x x x x

Tilly

Sorry to hear such sad news Karen. Tilly is a beautiful horse, what bad luck. Thinking of you all, Karen xx

TILLY

Just reading blog and was so shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Tilly. My heart goes out to you Karen and her poor owners. It doesn't seem possible that that beautiful horse could go down hill so fast; you must all be devastated. Thinking of you.
Huggzzz Lindsey & Ghillie
Lovely pictures of Oscar -such a handsome boy. I can definately see his Dad in him.
It seems to be a day for sad news. Some friends of ours lost their English Pointer today which has left them devastated. He died at home very suddenly aged 5 years. The vet thinks it was some acute abdominal complication but whatever it was he has gone and left them very empty. It is nearly a year ago that we lost our Jack so all the emotion has come rushing back again tonight - most of you I know understand how it feels.
On a much brighter note I am so looking forward to all the forthcoming puppy pictures. How many are you keeping Sandra???
Hope you all have a good long weekend. We are going to Wales next week (the dogs holiday) so hoping the weather improves.

So sorry to hear about Tilly, its so sad when we lose them as they leave a big hole in our heart, my thoughts go out to you Karen and of course to the owners of Tilly.

Sandra congratulations on Narla, bet you cant wait for the puppies to arrive really looking forward to hearing about them.

We had a lovely two weeks in Portugal lots of sunshine, the hardest part was leaving the dogs behind and boy did we miss them, Oscar stayed at my friends who has Oscar's best friend Henry and Misty stayed with my parents so she could crashed our for two weeks, anyway back to normal now and lots of dog walking which I missed so much. Holly is looking forward to taking Oscar to ring craft on Tuesday as she has her first show next month so she need to get lots of practise in.

It has taken me over an hour to catch up on the blog, some interesting reading and great picture everyone. Hello to the newcomers on the blog , I am sure you will enjoy been on here.

Karen

Just logged on, and so sorry to hear the sad news, we had all just got to know Tilly and were looking forward to hearing so much more about her.
Such a shame, and so young for a horse, please pass on our sincere condolences to her owner, I hope that my Bliss will be there to meet her when she steps over Rainbow Bridge, and that they will both enjoy a gallop together in heavenly field where all pain and illnesses are gone.

Thanks for keeping us informed Karen, I had hoped for better news, and I know how attached you and your family had become in such a short time. Thinking of you.

So sorry

I am so sorry Karen. I have tears in my eyes as I write this as it is just so sad and tragic at such a young age and in foal too. I can only imagine how much you are going to miss her being there- such a beautiful gentle animal. They capture our hearts so quickly all these animals don't they then break them when they leave us. Sympathies to you and Tilly's owners (hugs too).

So Sad

Oh Karen, I am so sorry. That is so very sad. Poor Tilly. She looks so different from your last photos. I know how much you will all miss her. Much sympathy to you all.

I've forgotten what else I was going to say now. The photos on here have been lovely.

How is Ghillie?

We're away for a while, so I wish you all a good few weeks with your dogs.

Again, so sorry Karen

Sue, Beecham & Bosco

PS congratulations to Narla & Logi was one of the things I forgot upon reading about Tilly. How exciting, Sandra. Hope all goes well.

Sad News

Oh dear feel very emotional - Tilly has gone downhill fast over the last few days and today the vet who suspected cancer confirmed it with a scan. She has fluid build up on her chest, and glands swollen in her neck and lumps in her jaw. She has lost loads of weight because she is not eating and is looking very forlorn. The cancer is in her ovaries. They have decided to put her to sleep today and what is most upsetting is that when they did the scan they discovered she is also in foal - only five months gone so can't be saved. We have only had her for a few short weeks but have already become attached to her as I have spent so much time with her and Elsa trying to get them to be friends - think Elsa will miss her too. She is such a beautiful horse and only 9 years old. How tragic. Her owner is coming to pick her up later today to take her home where she will be put to sleep there. Can't face going to say goodbye at the moment.

jumble

Hi everyone,
I am so sorry but for some reason I have not been able to sign on for ages. Life is good with us. Jumble is beautiful and has discovered water!!! She lies down in the stream at the bottom of the garen and refuses to move.
We had a good holiday in the Gower and then in the Lakes. She has started running with me and gets so excited when I put my running shoes on.
Last Saturday we started gundog training classes which I was so nervous about. But Jumble knew she was at school and did her best to impress Gus a black lab. She has now by passed grade 1 and can go straight into grade2. The trainer was lovely and when Jumble saw the river and charged off for a swim, he laughed and said what a great character!!! James and Matt have been away a week so Jumble has been super company.
Hope every one is well. so glad I can post again.

Morning

Thanks for putting Maggie up on the photo blog Ali. Elsa isn't as ball mad as Maggie - she will chase Maggie when Maggie chases the ball rather that the ball and if she does get it is not so good at bringing it back)lol We have half chewed up apples everywhere though!

Lins - Bailey is looking good - I love the photo of him and your dad.

Good luck with your exam results Hannah - hope you get what you want.

Lovely day here and just come back from walking the dogs - as usual went out with far too much on and came back with it all tied round my waist!
Morning all, Gorgeous pitures of Baby Bailey, and Buckley Binks, and yes Judith you do have quite a menagere!!! Dogs are always welcome here but reptiles only in an emergency!!!!

GOOD LUCK HANNAH, hope you get the results you are hoping for, let us know how you have got on, fingers crossed, but sure you will be fine,

I can see blue sky and sun this morning so off out with the dogs whilst it is dry!!

Good luck with your operation Kat, hope you aren't too sore.

Karen Maggie looks lovely and so does Elsa, is Elsa ball mad like Tetra? or is it just apples she likes!?! The pair look very well.

Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Bailey's looking well Lins. The photo of him with your Dad is great.

Good luck with your exam results tomorrow Hannah. Also good luck at the companion shows this weekend. I've entered Mazy in a couple of Open Shows this weekend.

Judith, I could cope with an extra dog like Buckley/Binks, but all the other pets you have I don't think I could. I'd be OK until I had to feed them or touch them.

Love Elsa trying to get the apple from the trampoline. Mazy easily jumps on our trampoline, I wish she couldn't. We should have named her Zebedee.
Hi everyone, horrible weather here, i have to pick up my GCSE RESULTS tomorrow, so now very nervous, but i think i did well and i know i am into college so just need the grades to be good hopefully they are. i did a compion show the other day but got nothing got two this weekend.

Bailey - the slimmer version!

Hi all, sorry been AWOL lately. I've so much going on, my two Dads are still with me and life is still manic. Did manage to take a few pictures of Bailey the other week, who has been on a diet since National Gun Dog.........still a dollop though!

Elsa talking - no idea what she's on about though!

I want that apple!

Poor Elsa still hasn't managed to jump on the trampoline - the apple tree near by often drops apples on to it which is even more frustrating for her and Maggie makes it worse by hopping up there so easily - Elsa gets very cross)lol

Quite a menagerie you have Judith!!

I think

we will start opening to the public soon, what with BuckleyBinks (we will choose one of them by the end of the week) We now have Ping and Pong 2 Bearded Dragons and Moby is joining us on Friday. So that will be 3 snakes Jovi, Ahab and Moby the 2 Dragons, Frodo the Gecko and Grimlock the 4 Horned Chameleon plus 6 dogs, 3 kids and a husband!!!!!!!

Congratulations

to Narla and Logi! Very exciting - looking forward to seeing the puppies
Congratulations Logi and Narla - Can't wait to see all the puppy pics. Love all the oddity / habits posts. I can identify with so many of them. Ludo yawns loudly and chats, especially if he is waiting for his food. He chews anything but his favourite is the dust pan and brush brush. He'll even dig at the bottom of the cupboard door to try and reach it.
We've just been listening to Pam Ayres talking about her large munsterlander and from the sounds of it she has many similar habits too - but the description of her dog being a 'martyr to flatulence' made us laugh the most!
Yes it is great News that Narla is expecting, they are due the end of Spetember and Talleulah is due next week, so busy time all round!!!
Well done Narla and Logi, can't wait to see the pups now.

Tuesday, 25 August 2009

Congrats

To Narla and Logi how long to go now ?
Congratulations Sandra and Narla and Logi of course. It must be so exciting. Now you can start preparing for all those little babies. Wish you lived closer as I would be first on the list for baby sitting duties! !

Mum to Be

Thanks Ali for putting up the picture of Narla on the Daily Dog, she was scanned this morning and is now a lady in waiting, we could see little blobs and heartbeats on the screen, Narla took it all in her stride and couldn't see what all the fuss was about, but I am afraid I was a quivering wreck, for a time I was absolutely speechless (now that's something very rare) my gut instinct was that Narla was in whelp, but once it was confirmed it was such a relief.

Thought the pictures of Summer and James were great, I think they get the prize for the dirtiest pair, can honestly say have never seen a dog that dirty, I don't envy mum cleaning that up !!!

Glad to hear that Tilly is on the mend and that Ghillie is a lot better to and putting some weight back on.

The Blitzan directory was really good and made interesting reading, I am looking forward to reading all the other pages as they are put on.

Muddy marvelous!

Ali those pictures are brilliant! I imagine it took slightly longer to get them clean than it took to get dirty. Must remember wipe clean paint on my list of house improvements for the Munster puppy.

I also vaguely remember having a slightly wet encounter when we came to visit - I like to think it was a friendly gesture : ) Along with Neil being sat on a few times and laid across.

Hi Carl and Sarah - glad to meet some other eagerly awaiting puppy people. Can't wait to hear your stories too.

Ali my operation is this Thursday - having veins stripped out of both my legs, so will be walking funny for a few days whilst the stitches heal and the bruising goes down. As soon as I can balance my laptop I'll be back - wouldn't want to miss any of the oddities.

Good luck everyone in auction, it's a lovely picture.
Oh dear Ali. I don't think I have ever seen a dog so absolutely covered in mud and James was fairly impressive too. I have to say though when it is someone elses dog and child it does look very funny but I do feel for you having to clear that lot up. I bet they had fun though ( never mind only two weeks to go until school!!!)

Darcy turns to drink!!!

It's all too much forDarcy he has turned to drink, the fact that it's cherryade is beside the point, besides that's all I need a drunk puppy!!!!!

OH WHAT FUN THEY HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Mummy!!!!

All those who wish to reconsider a Summer puppy, I will understand, must say none of the others are any better tho'!!!!!!

LOL!

Oh dear Ali! I have to say though James and Summer look very happy!!! Don't think I've ever seen a Munster that muddy or my sons come to that)lol

Roll on back to school!!!!!

Why you may well ask, well James decided to fitten some of the gang up by cycling off road with them, he did Prima and then Maddie who refused to go so then he came back for Summer, usually a prim and proper little girl she made up for it today. I heard James come back and shout for 'Dad', when he said the words preferably without Mum, I of course got up and went straight out to see what was wrong, thinking the worse, ie; Summer's injured, but nothing quite prepared me for what I saw stood in my kitchen!!!!!
Apprantly they got stuck in the mud!!! I think they bought it all home with them, and they are now BOTH in the shower, yes the same shower!!!!!
How much more of an odditiy can you get?!!? So now off to scrape mud off the walls, floors and clothes....... Boys and Munsters!!!! And you all think James is such a sweet helpful boy!!!!!!

Hi Carl and Susan, nice you could join us. Kat Hope you are well and OK now.
Busy weekend and still running behind with everything, can all Blitzan owners please email me as I am doing something different with my web pages, I am adding a page for everyone who has a Blitzan, you can see where I have started with these two pages,: www.blitzanmunsterlanders.co.uk/directory
I basically would like a page per Blitzan so please email me with any pictures and text or for help if you are stuck!!! Thank you very much.
Now for some more oddities!!!
The water one with Elsa made me laugh Karen as Tarka does something similar, she will have a drink but then hates having wet chops!!! So when she has finished drinking she will come and dry her mouth off on your lap, it's a quick wipe and off she goes!!!! Kat I have a feeling she did it to you when you met the family!!!!
Maddie also blows bubbles in the water bowl and she also digs out the water bowl if left at home, it's like her temper tantrum, now we have the bowls all on stands, especially Franks gorgeous wooden tables, soon to be on sale at the Muddy Dog Market!!!
The rolling in wet grass is a Tarka and Logi thing too, always have their early morning wash in the morning dew or rains soaked grass!!!
Will think of some more for the other later on, I could add a lot of oddities for husbands but that's another story!!!!
Good luck tomorrow Narla with lots of love from Logi!!! x x x x
The Auction is underway with bids already received, only five days left to get your bid in!!!!!
Hello Carl and Sarah, nice to meet you here. Will be lovely to hear about and see your puppy grow up.

OK Mazy and Domino's oddities. They both love to roll around on their backs usually on cold wet grass. Domino also likes a good scratch up against our beech hedge, drives Richard mad so she does it when he's not around. Mazy does the save the last mouthful of water thing for either the floor or someone's lap too. Mazy yawns very loudly first thing in the morning and she also walks round with things in her mouth, talking and pushing you around.

When they are hot and want to lie indoors, they will both scratch the carpets, not sure what they're trying to do, lift them up so they can lie on the cold floor I think. Domino will dig a hole in the garden and lie in it when she's hot. She will also lie in the kids paddling pool.

Now we have got one of Frank's lovely feeding tables, we don't have Domino banging the stainless steel bowls against the stand when it's tea time.
Love reading all the habits our Munsters have got - they are such funny dogs.

Welcome to Carl and Sarah - looking forward to seeing your new puppy.

The drawing by Katie is lovely - she is very clever.

Tessa - well done Evie getting second in prettiest - not surprised though! Glad you enjoyed your day - it sounds like it was fun.

Sue - Tilly is getting better. They don't think it was colic now. She had some blood tests and found something wrong - sorry to sound so vague, but the owner, Marshall spoke to the vet and couldn't quite understand what it was that was wrong. Anyway she is having antibiotics which Marshall is coming to inject into her backside once a day for four days - I didn't fancy doing the injecting! She seems happier though to me.

Thought of two other mad habits Maggie and Elsa do concerning water. Maggie puts her nose under the water and blows bubbles and if it's deep enough, her whole head when she is drinking. Elsa though doesn't do this but she keeps the last mouthful of water in her mouth walks a few feet a way and then lets it out - usually this is on your lap!

Hi Carl and Sarah nice to have you on the Blitzan blog, hope you enjoy reading all the posts and looking at at the Munster pictures on here.

Habits.

Narla likes to hide behind her favourite bush, she also uses it for scratching purposes, the thing is the bush does not hide her so we can still see her but she thinks we can't !!!!

She also likes to bury chews in the garden and then shovels the soil back in with her nose, she will do it with snow as well.

She likes to get on your knee for cuddles, but somehow forgot she is a lot bigger now than when she was a puppy, so there is always a bit of her hanging off, doesn't stop her though she will rearrange herself on you till she gets a comfortable spot.

We also get the big sighs and yawns, that then turn into talking, it's almost like she is having a conversation with you, so funny.
Sorry the pictures came before the text, I am not very good at editing things.

Habits

I'll try again. The last one disappeared into the ether - that keeps happening to me :(

Welcome Carl & Sarah. I think Beecham has a brother in the Channel Islands, but in Jersey. You must be so excited. We will look forward to seeing photos in the future.

I love the two-tier sofa, Ali and Maggie's slide, Karen.

Like Megan, Wooster used to try to bury bones in the carpets when we went away (we don't have carpet here). Bosco buries them in pots. Wooster used to stare in bushes and plants. He'd stare into them for hours, absolutely transfixed. Beecham used to use the herbs as trampolines when he was a small puppy, but Bosco used to roll in them - he's taken out a half a bed of lavender :( Bosco has also made holes in the hedge rubbing his back; Wooster used to destroy lone conifers (which we were going to take out anyway). Beecham likes to wipe his face in plants in pots, even holly :0 If Wooster saw a rug, he had to ruck it up into a heap and sit on the top. If he saw a wall, he tried to walk along the top of it.

Beecham was a pickpocket as well. We said that we should have called him Fagin. Had we been that way inclined, we could have made a fortune! He preferred plastic and photographic equipment as other steals and once chewed up all our film from a holiday just as it was about to be posted. He loved picking up litter when we were out and was particularly adept at finding lost cricket balls. Gloves were another favourite steal, even if they were being worn. He also used to do down stays on his back with his legs in the air, but totally still as if he had rigormortus. Fortunately, he appears to have grown out of most of these habits, I say cautiously.

Bosco's loves to steal cushions. If none are available, and he can't steal any being sat upon (he tries), he will steal and bring me books, any books. Beecham has only stolen one book to date, which he chewed up. It was a book on cats, which I found hilarious.

Golly, it's hard writing posts twice! Tessa, WKC is tomorrow. Well done to you & Evie for tdday.

How's Tilly, Karen?

Sue

Greetings from a small island

Hi Ali and all at the Blitzan Blog. Big thank-you to Ali for inviting us on to the blog. My name is Carl and my partner's name is Sarah. We live on the small island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, which are situated off the coast of France. We are very much looking forward to being the proud owners of a pup from Logi and Narla. Hoping to pick up some tips and pointers from all you large munster owners on here especially any hunting tips.

Best Wishes

CarlandSarah
Great video of Maggie - they are so funny how they develop their own little oddities.
How did you get on at the champ show Karen?
We had a lovely family day out with the dogs at the Game Fair. It is a wonderful atmosphere and most people have a dog or dogs with them so great for socialising. No more Munsters though although I did speak to three people who actually knew what breed she was.
Evie came second in the 'prettiest bitch' class out of 20 and second in the 'best condition' class out of 12 so quite pleased with my girl. Good bit of fun and nice to see all the other breeds too.
Anything to embarrass Megan...oddities, well once she's had enough of a chew she goes to bury it...nothing odd in that you say.. but she tries to bury it in the carpet, now she can't dig a hole so burying it involves covering it up in `imaginary' soil. This involves using her nose in a shovelling motion which can go on for some time, and be very determined to the point she gets carpet burns on the end of her nose! All this effort being waste of time is not helped by the fact that once she's finished I quite gleefully point out I can still see it, where upon she picks it up in a huff and starts the whole process all over again, usually in another room ( but the result is still the same!) Although occasionally she gets revenge in that I find it under my pillow, all wet and gooey!
I have to point out that Teal'q is big butch and fearless to all the girls out there. ( now he's out of the room) However should the front door be slightly ajar and the wind blows it back and forth he gets all worried and comes in and jumps up on my lap for a cuddle....a MANLY cuddle of course!

Oddities

That did make me laugh about Tetra and the perfume! Unfortunately Elsa has found the joys of rolling in Fox, sheep horse you name it - anything that smells unpleasant - wish she was like Tetra!

Anyway as for oddities firstly Mad Maggie - She will turn in tight circles when I'm walking out towards the field, not looking where I am going and I can't count the number of times she has banged her head on something. She loves rolling - especially in long wet grass and one thing that always makes me die laughing is her 'run and slide as we call it' which she has perfected to a t - sometimes she will do it down a hill and get a really long slide. Here, hopefully is a video of her doing it.

Elsa, is not quite a mad as Maggie but does make us die laughing - one thing is her yawning which she often does sometimes just to get attention ie first thing in the morning when she wants you to wake up. She is very clever at finding food and will spend ages trying to get a small biscuit thats dropped behind something. If she is sitting down on the sofa and you come along to stroke her she goes really dopey and floppy and will melt into the sofa. Oh and if she hurts herself she will make a big fuss until she has had lots of attention and then she forgets)lol

Summer and Diva's oddities!!

Oddities: Well they all have quite a few, not sure what is a trait and what is an oddities, but Summer refuses to lie on the sofa seat and always lies on the back cushion, but she will no make herself higher than me if I am sitting there too, so then squashes the back cushions in half!!!!!

Diva like to talk, but will actually shape her mouth to make different sounds, not seen a dog quite use her lips the way she does, yes they can all talk but this is a bit more, she also rubs on my legs like a cat does!!!!

Looking forward to reading some more, and will give the rest of mine some thought too!!!!!

I'm sure I can come up with a good list of Munster antics for you Kat, it's nice to be prepared! Hope your op goes OK.

Tessa, sorry you won't be at WKC, I think I've got Charlotte coming with me anyway, depending on the weather we will camp tomorrow night on the way. Evie looks well.

Ali, love all your photos of the dogs at Mudlarks. I tried to get a video today, will edit it and try to put it up tomorrow.

Preparing for oddities

Ali love the idea of posting the oddities - gives me a list of things to ponder on as to the antics of a munster.

Apologies in advance but I'll be bit allusive towards the end of the week as I'm having an operation on both my legs on Thursday so probably not online til the weekend depending on how bruised I am and the balancing talents of my laptop.

Loving all the pics, and counting down the weeks til our little bundle of fun is born.

Can't wait to read all the posts about things to expect
Sorry but I am not going to the WKC champ show. We are not going to any until Midlands Counties so sorry Karen. Will hopefully get more sorted next year and get to a few more shows.
We are in fact going to the game fair at Ragley hall which is about 10minutes from us - one of the dogs days out. They do mini field trials, scurries etc for gundogs but I dont think I will risk entering Evie this year and Murphy would definately be no good as he doesn't like to go above his belly in the water. Jack our old Flat Coat loved it and he put all the experienced gundogs to shame the one year in a fun trial which involved retreiving an egg without breaking it - he was brilliant although he did draw the line when it came to retrieving the cooked sausage (he couldn't resist that one).
Evie has a couple of odd traits one of them being the way she dries herself off by running in and out of the shrubs in the garden. She also knows when anything is new and she just can't leave it alone. She excels at pick pocketing and will whip things out of your back pocket. She loves to hide up my skirt whenever I wear one which is one of her more annoying habits. Never a dull moment with a munster about!

Another Topic on oddities!!!! plus GOOD LUCK

I have another topic for you!! I was chatting to a friend on the phone earlier and she was laughing telling me how every time she hangs the washing out one of her Munsters likes to rub on it, getting it all grubby again, a very odd trait!!!! So..... I thought I bet there are some other odd things these Munsters get up to so a good idea for another topic!!!!
I will start off with Tetra, if I spray perfume, febreze or any smelly on to anything if she likes the smell she will rub her neck, head and shoulders on it to cover herself in the perfume, and boy does she soak it up!!!! However if she doesn't like the smell she proceeds to bury it and cover it over, honest she is such a princess and loves to smell nice, she hasn't rolled in Fox muck or anything horrid yet just perfume and nice things!!!!!
C'mon on then I am looking forward to the odd things your dogs do, anything peculiar, odd or funny would be much appreciated, the heavens have just opened and flooded the yard so be nice to have a read and a laugh!!!
Also GOOD LUCK to KAREN & MAZY, TESSA & EVIE who are off to WKC Champ show this weekend, I hope everyone who is going has a lovely time. Not going to miss the 3+hours drive each way, but will miss catching up with friends, Tessa you're going aren't you, think Karen would appreciate a hand if you have a spare one!!! Or at least someone to leave her bag with!! Have fun and enjoy your day.

Good morning

The photo's of Evie are gorgeous, she is such a pretty girl and reminds me very much of Summer, her Aunty!! There are so many wasps around at the moment, poor little Darcy got stung yesterday so he was feeling very sorry for himself. Photo's from James again, he is out several times a day with his girls exploring and walking them.

Thanks to those who have sent in about the Spa days, we are now having several days so feel free to add your name to the lists.
