Where do you put the wheels on that?

Wow what a house. Brilliant design .
Is it that German Company who prefabricate it all in seasoned timber and fit it to the nearest millimetre.
Seen them on Dream Homes.

Rumours again.....

I understand at WELKS I was the topic of conversation for an odd few. Apparently I am living in the middle of a field in a caravan!?!?!

Well thanks for the concern, and not sure it is any one's business but mine and my families, but yes we have bought some farmland, we have got agricultural planning permission, our dream home is being built. We are farming, poultry and Buffalo and Alpaca's. The photo is of the lodge we will be living in. I am also sure that all 9 of my dogs will love the many acres of farmland to hunt and run over, and of course most on here will see it themselves when we have our training day. The

So I have to finish off with the fact that the rumours I am breeding and selling puppies out of a caravan are quite wrong and probably very malicious, thanks to my friends who put some of the rumours to bed.

Puppy School

Just got back from puppy class with Elsa - she is getting much better - calmer during the time we are there and concentrating a bit more. We did recall with distraction today, where we had two doing a recall of lead together and the trainer also brought in his old dog so they could meet another one - he was a very large Italian Spinone - lovely boy and very patient with all the little ones. We have started to introduce stand as well today which pleased me because I haven't done that yet and Elsa is very ready to sit all the time. Very pleased with her she is such a good girl.

Rosie, Harry is so cute! Ringo must love having a new playmate. Thanks for putting the pictures up.

Ali, Leah was so lovely - she so reminds me of Maggie.

Diva's Mum

Rosie I want one!!! He is absolutely gorgeous.
Mandy, Diva's Mum was my Leah, Blitzan Rhapsody and Dad is Raycris Showstopper, litter brother to Judith's Majik. Leah was also Mum to Logi and zeta, they were from her first litter and Diva was from her third and last litter. Photo of Leah above.
Harry is so cute - you can see why people confuse munster pups with spaniel pups they are quite similar. Lovely picture of Mazy too - she looks like she will be quite dark when she grows up. I was amazed how much Evies colour changed.
What a fabulous looking dog of Tracies in Australia - you can tell he is related to Diva. Just out of interest Ali what is their parentage?
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend- looks like the weather has got to be Ok which will be a bonus.

Harry Cocker

Hi everyone introducing Harry Cocker or as Ringo calls him 'Mini me' he is quite a happy little chap and is settling in well. Ringo seems very wary of him at the moment but he is very small but did let sleep near his back.
Lovely picture of Mazy she is really Cute.
Ali we have never met Logi but Ringo has a real look of Logi about him , he is lovely and he still thinks he is a yorkie who loves a cuddle on the sofa or your lap. He is starting to walk to heel and has a very good nose when he is out training . Unfortunaletly he still gets distracted with smaells and their are a lot of hares up the farm. He is really funny as he loves helicopters in the sky, or even on the Tv he stops if he hears one. The police helicopter was overhead for about half an hour a few weeks ago we had to call him in for his tea which is never heard of and he wolfed it down so he get back ouside before it went.
Elsa comes out with me and Maggie in the afternoon but don't have the time to go out twice in the morning because of work. I tend to give Maggie a 40min - hour walk in the morning but then in the afternoon we just do what Elsa can manage. Sometimes I let her run around the paddocks when I'm back with Maggie though or I'll do some training with Elsa. I'm hoping once she can go a bit further she will come in the morning too and I'll maybe make Maggie's walk a bit shorter for a while. At the moment though she is quiet sleepy in the morning and so I leave her behind. She's not great on the lead and walking them together is difficult as Elsa keeps changing places with Maggie but we are getting there. At the moment because of a scare with the two terriers down the road, I'm concentrating on her being happy and confident on the lead and not on healing. It's interesting to know what other people do when they have another dog to walk too. I know the best thing is to walk them separately for a while but sometimes that's impossible. I'm not too worried about Maggie teaching Elsa bad habits because I'm happy with her recall at the moment and I think if anything it's helping Elsa know what to do. If I ask Maggie to wait she does and often Elsa will stop too so she get's to know what things mean. Competition is good too as often they are racing each other to get back to me first.

Great dog of the day picture - that's one way to break a horse in)lol

Dog of the Day

Just uploaded the photo for today. http://www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com/

Karen, I take Mazy and Domino out for a short walk together first thing, mainly because I want Mazy to get used to walking with Domino on a lead. At the moment she starts pestering Domino on the way home, but she's getting better. Domino then comes out for a run with me later or a longer walk, although she getting a bit lazy and is quite happy with a short walk some days. I'm still training for the Race for Life, it's going OK, I reckon I could run the 5k now, albeit very slow. 8 weeks more training though so I should be fine.

Catch up

Some lovely pictures on here - especially Mazy - so cute! She is going to be sad when she can't fit on there anymore.

Diva's brother is very handsome and I can see the likeness. Did make me laugh about the mouse Ali - I would have screamed! Elsa's makes the most weird sound when she yawns - sounds like a cat - now Tetra is catching mice - are you sure this litter doesn't have cats somewhere in their lineage?

Judith, I can totally understand who 4 lads make such a mess having two myself! Don't envy you having to do that job!

Rosie - would love to see a picture of little Harry.

The weather here is not nice today but managed to take Maggie out before the rain started. Elsa is getting fed up of being left behind in the mornings and will stick to me like glue just in case she gets left behind again, but I take Maggie quite a way in the morning and she is not old enough yet. She makes a bit of fuss but soon goes to lie down. Poor Elsa, I'd love to be able to bring her too.

Wednesday 29 April 2009

Do you reckon

Mazy will still try to get up there when she's fully grown? She sits on there every morning when I'm getting the kids lunches ready. I'll take a photo each month and see how long they last. I will put it on the Photo Blog at the weekend Ali, I've been meaning to take the photo for ages, she thinks it's her throne.
Karen that is adorable, you should of saved it for the photo blog, perhaps pop it up anyway at the weekend, as we don't get the bog audience the photo blog gets, but it's so good you should share!!!

Before...

she grows too big to fit on here, I thought I'd show you Mazy on her favourite chair.

Actually..............

You know, even though I laughed at the request to put the link up - it does help! yes, I know it is down the side bar BUT it reminds you it has been changed (Thanks for taking it back by the way!)

On the subject it is "good to brag" those of you with pages - it is up to you to send us the photos, and news if you want it included! Things like photos etc., from shows, or training days or whatever, it is easy to just take a head-shot on your camera, with your rosette, and then we will add it etc., any pages not regularly updated will be deleted, nothing worse than old news!!! Again, send details to the munsterlandergroupie@hotmail.co.uk - that is the "shared" addy (hotmail filters out most of the spam!) as has been discussed before - don't put too much personal information in the public domain!!!!

I have updated the Goldie page www.owners.thelargemunsterlander.com/hessonite.html I really will miss their photos. and SO wish I could have that girl!!!! (scroll down to the last pic!)
Have just done the photo blog. www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com

Now back to the LMC newsletter, has anyone got any results, working, BOB's or Good citizen, basically any achievements please, agility, obedience, it's good to brag!!!!!!!

Tuesday 28 April 2009

Judith, you are very good to help your son move house and clean the old one too. Hope he appreciates your help and buys you a box of chocolates. Love your pics and the one of Ringo and Keeler. Sorry Mazy hasn't had as many photos taken as I thought, when Richard's got the camera, he takes photos of the children and forgets about the dogs until I remind him. Will get the camera out myself tomorrow.

Rosie, can we see a picture of your new puppy?

Mazy had such a busy morning, we went to Salisbury to have my car MOT'd and serviced, so we had to find something to do for 4 hours. We went to the park, met the ducks and swans, lots of children and a couple of dogs. I think Mazy would have gone for a swim given the chance, she waded into the shallow part of the river, but thought I'd better keep her dry today. We then visited the market, looking for a dog treat stall, couldn't find one so we were walking back to the park and saw a pet shop, bought some chews, Mazy was given a treat by the cashier. Then we spent the last hour back at the park. Luckily the rain held off so it was a lovely morning. Got to do it again in 2 weeks though 'cos my brakes need some work. Mazy has slept most of the afternoon, she lay down in the park but she wouldn't have a sleep in case she missed something and if I hear once more someone telling me how their Springer Spaniel at home is just like Mazy, I think I'll scream.

When we eventually came today, I'm not certain but I think I saw Domino playing with Mazy, very noisily and I'm sure Mazy started the game, but Domino was going back for more when Mazy ran away from her. I might have been seeing things though. Rosie, hope Ringo accepts your new puppy soon, Domino is heaps better with Mazy than when she first came home.

Ali, sorry wrote this post earlier, just forgot to publish it. You've posted since, that's excellent about Tetra dropping the mouse down your top. I hope Mazy doesn't start catching mice here.

Congratulations to Tracie, he looks a gorgeous dog.

Top Large Munsterlander in Australia for 2008

NZ CH Blitzan Leahs Pride is the Top LM for 2008
we are very proud of him and
Congratulations to his owner Tracie Edwards.
Brother to my Diva and Son of dear Leah (Blitzan Rhapsody)

Arguments and Mice

Tessa Not at all, 9 Munsters is mad I know it, you know it we all know it!!!!! I am mad it's as simple as that. I certainly don't suggest everyone else goes mad too!!!! Besides a Newfie counts as two. I must admit though I do have a yearning for a blue roan Cocker Spaniel, have done for a while, Andrew did say I could have one next year for my birthday once we have the land, but we will see, waiting for my Buffalo to come now. Then it will be the Alpaca's.
Judith I can imagine the mess, you know who lives here!!!!!
Rosie, Ringo is so handsome, really do love him and I really can see Logi in him, or is it me? Am I just being kennel blind, does anyone else see his grandfather in him? In fact he is more like his grampy than some of Logi's own sons!!
Heard form one of my owners arguments have started, her baby decided he wanted something and swore at her, she had forgotten to do the on his back thing, so I went through it all with her, that was a week ago, he has been put on his back twice a day since and no another swear word has left his mouth!!!!! Please remember they are intelligent babies so be ready when they do push the boundaries and keep on putting them on their backs and waiting for them to relax before letting them up.
Tetra is absolutely brilliant at the command dead, which is just as well. She will literally spit out what ever she has if I shout, 'Tetra Dead' really does astonish me how responsive she is, well today she galloped in and jumped on me only to see a mouse leg and tail hanging out of her mouth, I immediately and stupidly shouted dead only to have her spit it out and it fell right down by top, god did I leap up!!!!!

Can

someone please tell me how 4 lads in their early 20's can make so much mess, I am so glad most of their things were moved out yesterday. Today has been spent going to the tip and cleaning.
The landlady doesn't want anything left in the house. But there was lots of stuff there when they moved in. Back again tomorrow to clean the carpets, did have the lads doing the windows and paintwork. Cant wait to go back to work on Thurday !!!!
Ps Ringo looks lovely, must get round to phone you.
What a lovely picture of Ringo. He is very photogenic Rosie - how old is he? Hope things are settling a bit today with your new pup. I do love cockers -what colour have you had?
I would really like to add a Newfoundland to our little pack but I think I have my work cut out trying to persuade Tony especially as I am considering to breed from Evie when she is older and of course I would then have to keep one of her pups which would then mean 4 dogs. I'm sure Ali will read this and think 'four dogs - is that all'.
Anyway can't consider any other dogs until Evie is a little bit more controllable. Things had started to improve but the past two evenings she has run off at the end of our walk and tonight she got into a field with a small flock of Jacob sheep with their lambs and chased them across the field. She did eventually stop and come back but again not right to me - she does worry me.

Ringo Poser

Ringo caught posing again, he does like to pose as soon as the camera comes out ;-)

Morning

Love the pictures of the gang Judith , I showed Ringo Mummy in her Tiara and he gave a big woof. Stella is still gorgeous if a bit of a minx.Don't envy you having to clean on your day off.
The puppy are sweet and you can see them growing fast. Loki was a clever boy he has grown so much since I saw him at yelvertoft in October, we shall be coming now we know to enter Ringo as not for show.
We have an addition to our gang at the weekend, an 8 week old Cocker Puppy which we have called Harry. Ringo is so miffed and also a little wary of him because he so small, Stig follows him around and generally looks out for him i know given time Ringo will come to love him.
Took some nice pics of Ringo so will have to post some soon.

Keeler

Brilliant photo's Judith, love Princess Keisha with her Tiara on!!!! She looks so proud. Picture of Keeler, Stella and Mathilde's litter sister. The three girls really are so alike, and most of all they are all like their Mum, but with their Dad's substance and coat.
Photo blog done by me today: www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com makes me laugh putting up this link as there is a link permanantly on the left hand side of this blog page!!!!!

Also

about time we had a puppy fix, some of you are being abit slow putting up pictures !!!!!!!!
Hope when i get back there will be a few to look at.

Lots

To catch upon today, off to help Simon clean the house through (he's moving) anyway stella been caught red handed with tony's fishing boots !

Monday 27 April 2009

thanks Tessa - Loki isnt a Blitzan babe, he is one of the Paddockridge posse! He is mainly Raycris in his breeding through, his dad is Sh. Ch. Raycris Rather Special JW ShCM. Lokis kc name is Paddockridge Ortega.
Well done to those who went to WELKS. Lovely picture of Loki - he is very handsome sarah. Is he a Blitzan babe?
Congratulations Tor and Andy - I wish you both every happiness in your married life (and family life with Ludo).
Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to go for a walk Ali. Lets hope the sun comes back again soon and you can get out and about and let the sunshine boost you up.
All the latest photos are lovely - seems all the dogs on here have wonderful homes living the life every dog deserves!

photo

Yes Loki went Best Puppy In Breed yesterday so i was thrilled, i totally didnt expect it as Lokis equally as stunning brothers were there too. A great day out too, everyone seemed in good spirits.

Dog of the Day

Well done to all at WELKS yesterday. Lovely photos on here, lovely to see them all.

I've just added the Dog of the Day, oops I nearly added who's photo it was then read Elle's post saying it has to be a surprise, so I'll leave it to you to find out who it is: http://www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com/index.php

Well Done to all..............

just a quickie - on my way out.......

I keep telling people their "pages" are still out there - just not linked yet, but - here is "proof" lol. go to the news page, http://www.news.thelargemunsterlander.com/ and then to the link for Micheles page........ as she won at WELKS yesterday it seems fitting to add it to her page.

I understand that Sarah got "Best Puppy"? if she would like to send a pic? it can be added to her page....... lol - not sure where the link to that one is at the mo., but - it will be back on the "at large" site when it is "refurbished"...................

lol any spelling mistakes will be fixed later - byyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeee

Sunday 26 April 2009

Well done Lins. Lovely picture of Cassie - the head shot is beautiful.

Ali, glad you got out in the sunshine today - the wood looks very pretty with all the blue bells and Tarka and the pups look like they had fun.

Lovely pictures of Ludo Tor - that top picture of him looks the spitting image of Elsa! Just the same expression too. I'm glad he had fun on the beach.

WELKS

Back from WELKS, no placing for Cassie, although she made the cut, 6th choice out of 12, so I'm relatively pleased with her. If only she hadn't jumped around and barked we might have been placed! Well done to everyone else.

Long day for all, poor Bailey, Louis and Six (sister's dog) left at home for so long. Both Bailey and Six now have "dicky" tummies. I suspect it may have something to do with the tattered leaves of my umberella plant! As Bailey has been a little soft on and off for a few days now, but is still his usual "Bailey Bruiser" self. Anyway, as recommended, I have given them all a dose of Tree Bark Powder, hopefully removal of the plant and that, will sort them out!

Thanks Ali and everyone . . .

For all the kind wishes and congratulations! Andy and I had a brilliant weekend - we've got some great memories, including the wedding car breaking down! Everything worked out fine though as we had gone up to the castle for some pics after the service and it broke down just as we were leaving to come back into town. We put in a call for help and our friend came and picked us up in the castle ferry boat - so we came back into town via the river which couldn't have been better.

Love the pictures of Oscar, Darcy and Tetra. We took Ludo for his first beach outing today and as you can see from the pics he was a bit tentative but did have a dip in the end. I think he just wanted to be the same as Dexter, his collie / GSD cousin! He is now cream crackered and out for the count!

Back in the land of the living

Tarka

Tetra

Darcy

Feeling a lot better but not well enough to manage WELKS which was dissapointing, but did manage a 10 minute walk with Andrew, James, babies and Tarka up in the woods. A glorious day here very sunny, sneaky wind but not too chilly. Tetra and Darcy are absolutely crashed out now, Tetra on my feet and Darcy on the sofa beside me, I am working on the LMC newsletter as need to catch up with everything.

Gorgeous photo's on here and a huge
CONGRATULATIONS to the newly weds.
Andy and Tor I hope you have a lifetime of love and laughter, have a little something for you which I will bring to the LMC champ show. I hope the celebrations were everything you wanted them to be.

Photo's taken earlier today..... Tarka is doing very well for 14 years old, don't you think!!

Oscar Crashed Out!!

Hi
Hi all, thank you for putting Misty and Oscar on Dog of the Day, congratulations Tor and Andy, Ludo looks really well, Mazy looks to have enjoyed herself swimming, lovely pictures of Elsa and Maggie Karen, cant believe how quick these pups are growing, sorry if missed anyone out!!!

Oscar is being really good, I am waiting for him to do something he is not meant to, he has not chewed or destroyed anything (yet) apart from his own toys, he is very good and understands the word no (thank god) recall when out on walks is really good he comes straight back as soon as I do 3 peeps of the whistle, I took Peter's previous advice and visualise a circle around me and dont let him leave the circle. Also had a lot of help from Wendy the Munsterlander puppy co-ordinator she has been a big help and dont think I would have got as far with Oscar without the help from her. These pictures were taken today of Oscar crashed out in his bed after his walk. He is growing so quick he now weights 13.4kg and measures at the shoulder 19 1/2 in, he is not far off the size of Misty now!!

Hiccups

Congratulation Tor and Andy on your wedding. When Ringo was smaller he had continual hiccups sometimes 8 or more times a day. I posted here about them and said one day we will notice they have stopped. He was at least 6 months before they stopped , sometimes in the night you would hear hiccuping from his crate while he slept :) Now at 13 months he never gets them but does belch some rare sounds especially after his meals :)

Lazy lot!!!

the second e-mail said "thank you for adding the link, however, don't tell us who the dog is, we like the surprise element!" - some of you are getting hard to please lol. but yes, in future, whoever does DD will put up the link when they change it.
Congtratulations Tor and Andy on your wedding! Lovely pic of Ludo too. I bet he would have made a great page boy! Elsa has hiccups a lot too - do you think it is eating too fast - cos she does guzzle it down.

Karen - great pictures of Mazy on the beach - glad she enjoyed her swim- she obviously knows how to shake it all off already!

Joanne - nice to hear from you again - would love to see pics of Duchess and Duke.

Elle - I like the link too - it does make it easier. I love the picture of Oscar and Misty today.

Dog of the Day

had an e-mail - made me smile "please can you put up the link to daily dog as and when you change it each day because it saves me having to check" your wish is my command! BUT (hopefully) Karen is doing it tomorrow - so I'll have to check that one with her too........ however today's Dog of the Day is from Mandy - who I know reads the blog ;-) so go to http://www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com/

ps. good luck to all those going to WELKS today - have to say lol don't envy you!!! but - rather than "good luck" would like to wish you "good weather" nothing worse than a showground on a damp and dismal day!!!

Congratulations!

Well done! I hope the wedding went off okay and you both had a lovely day. You must post up some pictures when you've got them through. As I live in Bristol, Devon isn't too far to come, it would be nice to arrange to meet up one weekend. Bailey hasn't experienced a beach or the sea side yet.

Saturday 25 April 2009

Hi all!

Been awol for a couple of weeks as Andy and I got married and it's been a bit hectic! Ludo came and had his pics taken with us when we came out of the service. He wasn't really old enough to be page boy and I think my dress might have suffered the consequences if he had been!

Love the pics of Mazy on the beach. If anyone is down Devon way it would be great to meet up to take the pups out walking. We're hoping to do Ludo's first seaside outing tomorrow.

Ludo is doing well and loved all the attention over the hols from family and friends. He sleeps through now until about 7 am, asks to go out if he needs to, is beginning to walk to heal and his best friend is the broom! Oh and he gets hiccups . . . a lot!
By the way Ludo has still got his tail - he's just wagging a lot in the picture!

Good luck

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AT WELKS SHOW TOMORROW.
(fingers crossed for nice dry weather)

Mazy photos

These are from last weekend in Plymouth/Whitsand Bay. The ones where Mazy looks a little wet just after her swim. Charlotte has posted a couple on the Junior blog too

Just been for her first swim

Morning - and for Tessa.

Brook's Mum was Ichbin Finesse (oh lol how embarrassing - I am awful on pedigrees!) so that makes her Grandfather a Raycris? and sired by Tarkanya Magic Master (not sure if any link there? I bet I know just WHO is going to e-mail and point out if any relationship!!!) I know some people can remember pedigrees of ALL munsters - lol - I cannot even remember all my own!!!!

New puppy featured on todays dog of the day - Dora the Explorer! (I've been spending far too much time with Jessica & Tamara) http://www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com/ BUT please - send photos in in high resolution where possible - Ali will soon be starting work on the 2010 AHT Calendar - and to be considered for use - they HAVE to be good quality, high resolution, clear photos, we choose on merit, not on people paying for a spot!!!

Joanne - come on - a long time since you have submitted a pic for the calendar - I still have that one filed somewhere!!! but - can I have a new one???

Friday 24 April 2009

Joanne

Nice to hear from you again, I hope all is well with you, I look forward to the pictures. I must take some of Bailey and put up too.
Thanks for putting the picture up of Evie on dog of the day. She definately looks like Brook especially her head - can almost see what Evie will look like when she is all grown up (hope so anyway - Brook is lovely). Just out of interest who is Brooks sire and dam?

Catch up

Wow, I havent been on for a long time and did I have a lot of catching up to do, the puppies are so big now, and everybody seems to be doing well, and finding out how munster puppies are to train, they are smart and will test you, so be on top of them at all times. Duke and Duchess are 5 years old and I still get tested by them. Thank god I usually win! Sounds like Ali hasnt been feeling well, hope everything is alright and she is on the mend. I'll put up some pictures soon, but for now good bye from Canada

Village gathering

I decided to take Maggie and Elsa down to one of the nice grass fields on the farm at the bottom of the road this afternoon as it such a lovely day. I rang my mother who came along with Nellie. We hadn't walked far when a neighbour came out of her house with her 8 month old collie cross and asked to join us. A bit farther and another neighbour joined us with her springer. By the time we got there we had quite a gathering of dogs all ready to play together. Couldn't have asked for a better socialisation group for Elsa. They are all lovely dogs and obedient. While they were running around the bigger dogs ran off over a bridge into the next field and Elsa was on her way to follow them. I whistled Maggie to come back at the same time as the others whistled their dogs. Elsa who thought the whistle was intended for her started running back to me but the others had all heard too and there was suddenly a stampede of dogs headed our way. They jumped over poor Elsa in a bid to get to us first! Great roll models for Elsa though who may have learnt she has to be quick if she wants her treat. She did get hers though albeit after the others)lol

Lovely picture of Brook and Evie on the dog of the day.

Dog of the Day!

I'm doing the dog of the day this week, then next week, when I am unable to do it - Karen's turn, or back to Ali, one of us anyways!!! However, this morning - I confused myself! I put up the photo of Evie, and then - looked again - http://www.photos.thelargemunsterlander.com/ is it my imagination - or does it look like a younger version of Brook? (above - IS Brook) Thank you to Tessa for joining in - and remember - open to all.

Thursday 23 April 2009

Peter

Thanks for that advice Peter, I suspect, if we can find a willing farmer, it will have to be me doing the "de-training", I'm not sure my Sister is strong willed enough to carry it through! As far as I know, he didn't draw blood, but I wasn't able to check out the whole flock, he didn't seem to have any blood on his mouth when I finally managed to secure him, but he had been chasing them for about 20 mins. I took him past the field today, on a lead, and shouted "Ware Sheep" at him every time he as much as looked at them, but your method sounds much better. Wish me luck!

Morning

Lovely sunny morning again here. More pics taken from the weekend.

Elsa got tired and hot very quickly - we didn't go far but Frank had to carry her some of the way. Nellie was very sweet and waited for her when she needed a rest)lol Maggie was too busy.

Give me a cuddle and you can have the ball!

Hope you are feeling better today Ali.
