Happy birthday Ali!! Yes you relax today and enjoy your day! 19 dogs ... is that your tally? I,m vacuuming everyday and thats with only 3 dogs.. how do you do it superwoman!

Pictures of Maggie were great, I love when the dogs round their bums and put their tails between their legs and totally spaz out, Duchess spins in circles then takes off like that, we call it hyenas, you know the african animal (not sure how to spell it) just how the bum almost drags but they are still running a full speed!

Thanks all of you

Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages, cards, gifts and flowers, so very kind of you all. Made my day, much to Andrew and Jamies delight I seem to be losing my voice, hoping it wont develop into what James had, but more likely due to complete exhaustion, going to watch my new DVD and relax on the bed whilst cuddling all my 4 legged family, all 19 dogs and 9 cats!!!!!

Thanks everyone you have really made my day x x x x x x
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI!!! Hope you have a lovely and relaxing day, and that you manage to get some sleep in too!

Lovely pictures of Maggie, that looks like a fantastic walk and she certainly looks happy in the pictures! My Dad was up early with the dogs this morning so no pics from this weekend yet but got the battery on charge for this afternoon.

Holton Meadows

were flooded today. The bridge across the brook as you can see from the first photo had floated away and so we had to take a slight detour to cross over. Maggie of course swam straight across and looked puzzled when we didn't do the same!

We walked quite a way this morning and Maggie had a great time. She ran after a herd of deer near the wood but I was thrilled as she came away when I called her. She didn't disappear from sight at all - so much better than she was this time last year, I can't believe the difference in her.

The walk took about an hour and a half altogether and Maggie seemed to have as much energy in the last 15 mins as she did in the first! Think she would go all day - amazing!

The water excited her and she had a mad fit running through it all as you can see from the last photo - so funny.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI!!
Hope you have a great day cuddling puppies and being spoilt by Andrew and James!

Thursday 29 January 2009

Been down to see the puppies today, they are lovely. Prima and Logi very pleased to see me and Diva looked abit better, more settled today. Poor girl all those babies, anyway plans have been set.

James

As i dont get sick pay when out ill, here are your good bye kisses XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Diva & James

Sorry to hear that Diva was so poorly. I hope that she is continuing to feel better. I love the puppy vid and the photos. They all look lovely.

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better James. How lovely to have already chosen your puppy. Tetra is a really lovely name. I shall look forward to hearing the kennel names of Tetra and Boy X in due course.

Hope you're managing to catch up on a bit of sleep Ali. You must be absolutely exhausted.

Sue

James

James, I am happy that you were able to write on the blogger, I hope that means you are feeling better! You are one lucky boy to be playing with all those puppies, and I really like the name Tetra! My daughter and I went to a pet store last night just to cuddle the puppies that were there. There were only 2 Min pins and 2 Westie pups, not nearly as cute as a Munster pup! I hope Diva is doing better, poor girl must be exhausted! Any ways, get yourself better, lots of rest and make your mom get some rest too.
Love from Joanne

Diva

Poor Diva glad she is feeling better now and you too James! Must have been horrible feeling poorly. How exciting for you keeping a puppy - great name too.

Love the video - which one is that going on walk about. Clever little thing! Looks happy when he/she gets back to mum though!

I picked my pup

Hi, as you all know I'm keeping a puppy from Divas' litter.
I have chosen her for she is very cuddly, pretty and really cute!! Her litter name is Shadow and i think I'll call her Tetra I'm not sure on her kennel name though i do like eternal flame, grace, dream, fantasy and rhapsody! I'm felling much better now, thanks. Mum's not decided her boy yet. She loves them all, and is torn between them all.
Sorry to hear Diva is unwell but also great to hear the meds seem to be helping even if only a little. The video was lovely Ali, I love the one (unsure which pup it is) that has the little squirm exercise round the box before going back for more milk. Bet you it ends up running loopily like Ceilidh does. Hope Diva keeps improving and james too. Get some sleep Ali, I am suprised you can even keep your eyes open!

Diva

Sorry to hear shes not very well but glad shes on the mend, love the movie they are so cute.

Diva

Hope the meds work for Diva and she feels better soon. Sounds like you need to sleep now Ali, not wait for tonight, you don't want to end up really poorly yourself. Glad James is managing to eat now and can build his strength back up.

The video is lovely, that's Stripes getting a bit lost, isn't it? Would love to see more videos if you can manage it, but after you've had some sleep!

Poorly Mum now.

Diva was taken quite poorly last night, very high temperature and she didn't even want to lift her head up, I lifted her up into a stand but she was very weak and wobbled. Straight onto my Vet Graham Lunn at Cedar Veterinary Group, and on his advice she had a big dose of Rimadyl and Synulux, which I have quite a stock of. She perked up with in an hour but still not right. I have just been in with her to see Graham as the thought was she may have Metritis, infection in the womb due to a retained placenta, he is such a wonderful vet as he doesn't just dive in and put the dogs through anaesthetics and ops where not needed. Anyway he had a good feel and she felt fine in the abdomen, but to be sure he X rayed her, we lifted her on the table I told her to stay and dashed out two seconds later I was back with her and the X ray was developed. Nothing showed so at least we know there is no puppy left in there, she has perked up, her temperature is lower although not normal. She did eat some Tuna and Chicken but is suddenly quite thin. I am bottle feeding the babies to top them up twice a day anyway so she isn't dragged down too much, and feel that she is on the mend again. Graham stocked me up with meds and I have his mobile if I am worried. I do think she is on the mend and maybe just very exhausted and has a 'bug' about her. The puppies are great though and totally unaffected.

Joanne whatever you do about your girls you do need a vet like Graham, he is so honest and plain speaking and he accepts that I have knowledge too and know my dogs. I always have a sensible stock of meds and use them only as needed. I have to say too the dogs absolutely love him, he has even been known to pop in if passing to see puppies, just a really nice, caring bloke.

James is on the mend too which is a huge relief, managing to keep food down and fluids, still white as a sheet and tired and weak, but improving each day. I hope I may actually get some sleep tonight, I need to as I am beginning to become incoherent!!!!!

Babies first movie

Congats Karen and Maggie / Merlin

You must have worked very hard and Maggie's must be very good well done.

Divas puppies are all so lovely but Merlin is by far my favorite :-) hope I get to meet her some day or at least see some pics of her when shes older to see if there are any other similarities.

Sid was eating something horrible this morning think he walked round in it too as he stank I said 'not my dog' so Dad had to wash him but he ended up soaking he put the shower head in a bucket and it flipped out lol.

Black Bits

The pups are just all gorgeous!  Poor little Button though bless him - where's his share of the black bits??  Little sweetheart!  It's difficult to tell from the picture but he seems to have shadows - will they develop?  How does the colouring thing work again?  I know there has been some discussion on here before but I can't remember what the general consensus was.

Just a comment on the spaying - our flatcoated retriever had some incontinence issues before spaying but being spayed did make things worse - it was an emergency op though which may have made a difference.  Propalin was very effective.

Incontinence after Spaying

Jo, it wasn't me who said the incontinence could be because they were spayed early. Don't know about that just know that my springer used to be incontinent. Used to be asleep at our feet and then when she woke up there was a puddle or sometime her bedding would be wet or even in the car there would be a puddle. As Ali said the Propalin (or whatever) helped but I was able to stop giving it to her in her later life.

Thanks to Everyone

Thank you everyone for your input to "puddles" and I am still going to look for a new vet, he is very nice but talks too much and doesn't listen. He has both dogs on Stilbestrol, I just think it is strange the both girls have it.
Ann... I have read up on this condition before and it may be true, but Elly May , my Springer had puppies when she was 3 then got fixed and Duchess was 2.5 years old when we decided to spay her. So they were not done early. Now the medication seems to work most of the time but not always and my Vet say double the meds which I don't think should be necessary.
Ali... the pups are georgeous! and what luck to have 6 of each! I am having puppy withdrawls! Your are so lucky! ahhh to smell the puppy breath!
Congratulations to Maggie and Karen, it really feels good to acomplish things with our furry friends doesn't it. I am proud of you!
Jo

The delectable dozen!

I must admit, of the girls I like stripes best, but Tyson is my favourite of the boys........but they are all gorgeous!

Thank you

for the congrats! I did give Maggie a reward Elspeth - I took her to the far end of Holton woods today where there is a field of trees just in front of it. It's her favourite hunting ground and haven't been for a while because of the shooting season. I knew they weren't shooting today and so let her do her stuff. You know how when you blow up a balloon and then without tying the end you let it go - well that's how I'd describe Maggie today once she picked up on some scents - totally crazy! It was lovely to watch her though. She was very good and didn't stay out of site for too long - she kept reappearing looking at me before heading back in and every now and then I'd see a pheasant or two fly up.

Puppies - they are soooo lovely Ali- thanks for putting the pictures up - getting so excited. You are so lucky smelling and cuddling all those puppies everyday although I don't envy all the hard work! - Hope James is still on the mend.

Spayed bitches. I read an article in a dogs magazine about this, not long before I had Maggie spayed. It concerned me at the time and I spoke to my vet about it. He did confirm that it can happen but he felt it wasn't as common as the magazine had said it was.

Adorable

what an adorable litter Ali - they are all so lovely marked but my favourites at the moment have to be Arnie and Stripes, just gorgeous. I will be watching out for their photos as they grow!
Have any of them stolen your heart already Ali? (i do with my chicks etc, there is always one that no matter what i always get drawn back to)

BEAUTIFUL PUPPIES

Ali, what a beautiful litter of puppies. Glad to hear they are all doing well and I am so looking forward to meeting them.

The boys

Dynamite
Button Smudge

Tyson

Rudolf

Arnie

The Girls

Daisy
This is Minnie - nothing to do with her size! Dottie

Merlin because she is lo like Ilka who was a Merlin too!

Stripes

Shadow

Those are the girls boys next!

Spayed bitches

Propalin was the medication my vet gave me to give to my springer who suffered from this problem.

But Jo, you should change your vet as you obviously have no confidence in him and you do need a good rapport with your vet, your doctor, dentist etc. etc. You must feel you can trust in their opinion.

Spayed bitches

I have had this useful information from someone who reads the blog and has asked me to pass the info on to Joanne.

I know you'll be up to your eyes but I have just seen a posting on your blog and can I reply through you please? Spayed bitches are known for becoming incontinent, it's one of the side effects of spaying especially if they've been done pre-first season. Along with coat texture changes & weight gain, it is a downside. You could maybe add this link? http://www.caninesports.com/EarlySpayConsiderations.pdf
Joanne might like to ask her vet about Propalin or Incurin which is produced to help with incontinence and both products specifically list for spayed female dogs - so the link is there.

Thanks for the info it's much appreciated. My two penneth worth is Snoopy, ended up on Propalin syrup, at 11 years old, nothing to do with the weather or swimming, but when she slept she relaxed so much that she would leave a puddle, or even drown her bedding, but she was a bitch who fell off an 80foot cliff, breaking her pelvis and damaging her bladder, so although she was spayed, she also had an accident which could account for it, she lived to the ripe old age of 18 though. Propalin worked really well.

Congratulations and Thank you

Someone has been wonderful and send me a gorgeous vase of flowers,, they are suuperb and were ordered on line at lunchtime, however the card says Congratulations to me and Diva, James and Andrew, and Get well to James but it doesn't say who they are from, the shop couldn't help as it was a web sale, so whoever it was please tell me, I am really touched and gratefull so thank you very much x x x x

Well done to Maggie on her great achievement and for taking the two exams in one night and passing with flying colours you must be very proud Karen and I hope your new baby is as well accomplished as Maggie!!!
WELLDONE KAREN AND MAGGIE!!!!! Both in one night aswell, you should both be very proud of yourselves!!! Did she get a special treat when she got home?

Jo, in my experience if you lose confidence in your vet you have got to change. I love the one I take Ceilidh to now, she loves going in (highly strange) they all know exactly how to deal with dogs, especially larger ones. With Ceilidh she hides under the table so they get down to her level and wait for her to go over to them and have a sniff and cuddle, then get her on the table and she is fine. I don't think she has ever grumbled at the vets, just wriggles to make life awkward if they are trying to do anything to her (eye test springs to mind!) I hope Duchess grows out of her little problem but then again, it might be because it is so much colder where you are combined with the spaying.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations Karen & Maggie; that is fantastic news. Really well done both of you.

Many congratulations to Diva & Gozzi, but particularly to Diva for carrying all those puppies. She looked massive in the photos. I am so very pleased for you, Ali. Lovely to see the photos. Well done all of you.

POOR James. I wish him a really speedy recovery and hope he is feeling better than he was.

Rosie, we always thought that Beecham looked a lot like his sister Keisha. At the moment, he looks very like Daddy Logi a lot of the time. Ringo is really lovely.

Just a quick look-in as it's all been a bit mad here of late. I hope that all the colds etc get better. I've the end of a horrid one, too.

Once again, Congratulations to Karen & Maggie, to Diva and all @ Blitzan and get better James.

Sue

CONGRATULATIONS KAREN & MAGGIE

What a fantastic achievement by both of you. You must be so proud, I bet you will soon be clocking up many other awards to go with those.

Huggzzz Lindsey

Congratulations

to Karen and Maggie. Well done.

Maggie Passed!

Maggie took her Bronze and Silver KC tests last night and passed both with flying colours. The road walking was a bit hairy as she was a bit excited walking somewhere different but managed to keep her to heal. She did the two minute stay perfectly and didn't move a muscle and the recall made the instructor laugh because she was so eager to get to me. Not sure I'll go in for the gold just yet but maybe one day.

Spayed bitches

I'm afraid your vet is right Jo and spayed bitches can and do have a bladder incontinence problem. It's the loss of oestrogen that is the cause and the vet can give you medication which will improve the situation. I suppose it's like HRT! I know because my little springer suffered from it. We did give her medication for a time but for some reason it improved after a while and she didn't need it. There are in fact notices up in our vets explaining the possible after effects of spaying.

Puddles

I think the vet needs retraining. It would appear that he has the reproductive system and the waste disposal system mixed up. Bladder control is not usually a problem in spayed bitches unless they have some infection in the urinary tract.
It is a pity when one looses confidence in the vet. I have a happy but very female munsterlander "teenager" who discovered the vet stepped back when she rumbled. Guess what she does all the time at the vets now. Labelled as an untrustworthy dog when she is simply expressing dominance to a nervous vet. A gentle hold of the head and a quick word with eye contact generally sorts her out.
No problem with the last vet who simply looked her in the eye and said in a voice that brooked no nonsense "Shhh!"

Joanne

My family has always had bitches that have been spayed, and the only time we've ever had any problems with "puddles" when they've been relaxing is when they have Cystitis, no vet has ever suggested it was anything to do with them being spayed.......

Hi Joanne

nice to hear from you. Diva's puppies are 6 boys and 6 girls.
as for the wee bit, i never get it that cold over here but Keisha does widdle when she gets excited. The strange thing is she never did it when she was carrying her puppies last year.

Hope you're home James!

Hi all - just got in from work only to read about the dramas of hospital trips!  What a worry.  So hope you're feeling better James and that you have made it home for tea time.  Sure it won't be too long until you're back on your feet.  All the best from both of us here.

Catch up!

First of all I hope you are feeling better James, best wishes for a speedy recovery!
12 puppies!!! Wow, well done little girl, Hope Diva has gotten some rest, she'll need it in a few weeks when the pups get more mobile. I had a Springer once that had 12 puppies and had to seperate them into two boxes at 3 weeks old and bottle feed half of them rotating feedings, because mom was too tired and not enough milk to feed all adequately, but it was well worth it and the time passed really quickly. How many girls and how many boys? I am so jealous of all the new puppy people!
Karen, HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY, hope you day was a good one!
I love the picture of Sid under the stairs! All attitude and very cute!!
Looks like you had fun with the Munster meeting, of course the Springer was in the water, hard to keep them out even with ice still on.
Does any body find that their females leave puddles of pee on the floor when they are relaxing especially after a cold dip or running in the cold or snow? My vet say's it is common in fixed females to get lazy sphincters and has mine on hormones, it seems to work but not sure if this is the problem, I don't like my vet much and I am shopping around for a new one.
Jo

JAMES

So sorry to hear James is so poorly and glad to hear that he has turned the corner and is improving. Give him our best wishes. There are some really nasty bugs around at the minute. My friend is on antibiotics and steroids for a chest infection that followed on from a terrible cold. I am putting off going to docs for same reason..just getting over a really bad cold and now battling with painful, bubbly chest.
Hope Diva & family continue to thrive. You are going to be sooooo busy Ali.
Hugggzzz Lindsey

GET WELL JAMES!!!

You poor thing, I really hope you feel better now that your temperature is down and that the medicine kicks in quickly!!!Big hugs from me and Ceilidh!!
Good news, Jamies temperature is now down and Andrew is hoping to bring him home by tea time, another crisis over, I hope, and no Karen no sleep as yet, now acting and looking like a Zombie!!!

GET WELL SOON JAMES

Poor you James, hope they give you some strong medicine to clear your chest and you feel better soon. I'm sure you will be well enough to run around after all the puppies soon.

Get Well soon James

Hope James gets better quickly it's not the time you'd want to be in hospital (not that there ever is) I'd want to be home cuddling puppies but great to hear they are doing well anyway.

Gell well James

Hope he feels better and comes home soon. Ali, have you actually had any sleep since Friday night?

All Go

James is in Hospital, he was taken in last night, basically we couldn't get his temperature down and stop him being sick, so he couldn't take any of his meds. They hope to have him out and home by this evening, so Andrew and I are splitting time between James and the puppies, I'm home for the moment, Andrew is with James, I do hope they will come home soon. Bless him, all from a chest infection.

Babies are doing very well, putting on weight and enjoying their bottles as well as Mum's milk bar.

Well done

Well done to Diva the pups look gorgeous . I can't beieve she had room to squeeze them all in. :)
Hope you are feeling better James there are so many infections about at the moment Roll on the spring.

Sunday 25 January 2009

Can't wait to bring one of Diva's gorgeous puppies home. Well done Diva and Gozzi!
CONGRATULATIONS DIVA & GOZZIE!!!!
She does look tired but like Sophie said, it is absolutely no suprise. What a beautiful litter, I cannot wait to see them!!! Hope you are all starting to recover today and that Diva has managed to get some sleep after such a long day yesterday. So excited for all the new owners, and incredibly jealous!!!!! Bigs hugs to all xxx

Lovely pics of sister Georgia!!!
Thanks for putting some pics up Ali they look so lovely and healthy and Diva looks good too though does look a little tiered but can't blame her for that with 12 pups, I love the markings, will have to meet at least some of them at shows or somewhere, am very jealous of who ever is having one, well done Diva and Ali and all.

Great pics of Georgia her head is very similar to Ilka's (well they are sisters)

The Dirty Dozen - clean and beautiful thanks to Diva!)

How on earth did they fit inside her???
Very Tired but Very Happy In the pink

Lined up like soldiers Excuse corny remarks but extremely exhausted, two night without much sleep is catching up on me. James is also very poorly with an acute chest infection so all in all rather tired!
Diva is being an absolute star, she is even happy to have the rest of the dogs in the room too, we are all cosied up watching a film, Diva is incredibly cuddly with me too, so haven't cuddle babies so much as every time I get in the box, Diva lies her head on my lap for a cuddle, she is really happy though. I know every one thinks their babies are gorgeous but this lot really are, it makes all the travelling across Europe worth every mile, so proud of my girl and can't quite believe the great outcome, thanks for every ones support it meant a lot. Now back to cuddle and snooze!!! Will get on the phone tomorrow.

Happy birthday

to Diva's 12 adorable puppies.
I look forward to watching them grow up.
Well done Diva :)

Diva

Just been catching up on the blog! Congratulations Diva, you must be thrilled Alli! They look gorgeous, doesn't seem that long ago that we were looking at pictures of Hudson like that!

Diva

Well done Diva! Just seen the photo on the photo blog and lovely looking litter and so many! What a clever girl! Hope you have some rest today Ali and Diva too of course!

CONGRATULATIONS MUMMY

Well done Mummy and best wishes from your older daughter Georgia xxx

WELL DONE DIVA

That's great news glad it all went well, that's brilliant, seen the photo on munstermag photos they look lovely.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN sorry its late.

Yesterday Ilka did her first proper retrieve so am chuffed with her on the last drive we beat down though some woods then went on to pick up so was a blind retrieve, it wasn't a long retrieve but she found it on a bank/hedge on the other side of a ditch with a stream so she jumped back over with it and looked so pleased with her self, we let her carry it for a minute to let her know she was doing the right thing then she happily gave it up. Also just before lunch she found a big pond which she had a little swim in trouble was she came out stinking and filthy really yuk.

Great pics and video Sarah.

Good news

Well done Diva!

Saturday 24 January 2009

Diva is exhausted

But a very proud Mum, bless her she has 12 babies, all very even and all about 1lb in weight, she is doing so well, and now sprawled out feeding the dirty dozen!!!!

Thanks all for messages.

Sarah

Any scuffles were pretty much "handbags at 5 paces", I agree it was good for all the dogs, love the picture of Cassie and Loki!
i did edit the video to cut it short a few seconds so avoid the disagrement between Meg and Louis (which i agree was the only time they even looked at each other) but the edited version wouldnt upload for some reason. Glad you enjoyed the day though - it was great socialisation for all dogs envolved, excellent for Loki at his tender age.

Midlands Munster Walk

Great pictures and video Sarah, such a pity that you didn't get Louis putting all the munsters to shame by being the first (and only one of two) to jump in the water! Still, it was frozen......There was definately a personality problem with Bodie and Louis and possibly a personality disorder with Dougie (lol), who was very "taken" with Louis! Good to see that by the end he had set his sights on Cassie instead. I think the bit on the video with Louis and Megan was just because she was coming out of the water, they ignored each other for the rest of the walk. I had a great time, it was really good to meet with you all. Thanks for organising it x

Munster meet up

As it's quiet on here today (wink wink Ali) i will put up two photos and a video from todays munster meet up here in the midlands.
Munsters present where Cassie, Loki, Doug, Kaia and small munster Bodi. Louis and Megan were honorary munster for the day.
It was good fun and the weather was brilliant, thanks Lins for coming it was nice to meet you and the gang again :) (although judging from the video i dont think Louis and Megan hit if off!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN

I hope that you are having a lovely day.

For all the birthday wishes. I had a nice day with my sisters today and planning on a nice meal and a relaxing evening tonight. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Great photo of Sid the thief Sophie! And lovely picture of Summer - thanks Ali
Happy Birthday Karen,

From Judith and all the Rixbriar gang xxxx
Have a great day Karen ! Happy Birthday x
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!!!!!!
Have a fantastic day!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN
hope you have a lovely day

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Karen, I hope Frank, Lydia and the boys spoil you and you have a lovely relaxing day, picture for you!!!

Under the stairs.......

.....lives a hairy beast with big dark eyes and turned out feet. He comes out at night and steals you socks which he scurries away to his den. When approached he gathers them up and lets out a murmuring growl. Once your sock is taken it will never return, because the little beast has got them and won't give them back. The beast is Sid here is a photo.

Thursday 22 January 2009

Yes the stories are funny Sophie. Ceilidh is not too bad now, certainly not as vocal anyway though the looks and huffs have become funnier than ever.
That is awful news about the other breeder Ali, it really must be awful for that to happen. I know you have just gone through that with Summer too Ali but it really must be gutting.
Funny reading all the bed time habits and that quite a few of them do the same, Ilka sleeps in a cage in my room (down stairs) at the mo partly cos we have no doors so as soon as she wakes up she would be going and giving every one good morning kisses which might not go down to well, but when we've got doors she'll be upstairs in the living room (we have a partly upside down house) with Sid which will be good.
Love the photo of Logi, and Sounds like Diva is not far off so exciting.

Wednesday 21 January 2009

Bedtime and Logi

I do like seeing the flying ears photos, lovely one of Logi.

Domino tries to go to bed earlier and earlier the older she gets. She was barking at the bedroom door at 4pm yesterday. If the kids went to bed as nicely as she does I'd be a very happy mum. Domino has also started spreading out a lot more and as the night goes on she moves further up the bed between me and Richard. Not sure where the puppy is going to sleep, might need a queen sized bed.

Bedtime Difficulties!

Flying ears from my boy - LogiBedtime is a bit difficult for me at the moment as Diva needs room to sprawl so have been asking Maddie, Zeta and Summer to join Prima in Jamies room and they are not impressed, all Mummy's girls!!! Logi is so easy as he always sleeps under the bed, Tarka sleeps beside me, this is new since she has been poorly, before that for 13 1/2 years she would never get on the bed, but as I say since October she has turned into a bed hog. Think it's probably time to give Diva the room to herself.

Tuesday 20 January 2009

Bed time habits

Maggie and Tilly have beds in an alcove in the kitchen but we leave the door open to the tv room where there is a sofa which Maggie often chooses to sleep on. She will often take herself to bed in the kitchen about 11pm and snuggle down for the night but when I come down in the morning she is often on the sofa. When we get a puppy she will be caged to begin with in the kitchen next to Maggie's bed and I may stop Maggie going in to the tv room for a while so she stays next to the puppy to keep her company. When Maggie was a puppy, we did the same for her with Tilly's bed next to her and she was great from day one.
That's brilliant Maggie, well done! And Rosie, how exciting for you, congrats to you and your daughter!

Ali, Diva really does look good, her coat is so shiny, but I bet she'll be glad to "lose the load" so to speak!

I wish I could get Cassie to sleep downstairs, but I'm afraid I've made a rod for my own back and she howls if she's shut down when I'm upstairs. When I get number 3 dog, I might try again at getting them to sleep down in the living room. Louis will be fine, he's not as clingy as Cassie and the new one..........well time will tell!
Well done Maggie, you should be very proud and congratulations to Rosie on your forthcoming Grandchild.

Soph, it is Tarka and Ceilidh as Elspeth said, but also Prima she is another early to bed when she wants to not when your ready!!!!

Diva has changed shape over night, everything is down at the bottom and in position for when she goes into labour, she is at least a foot wider at her lowest but much narrower at the top now!

I had a phone call from a lady hoping to get on Diva's list, unfortunately there is no chance of that they are definitely all spoken for, but she was sent to me via a breeder in Scotland who was kind enough to put her my way, she has just gone through the same as me and Summer, unfortunately she didn't know till later than me so I can just imagine how disappointed she must be, anyway it's lovely how breeders can help each other out, the lady is now on Summer's and Prima's list.
Welldone Maggie!! Love the rosette! Sounds like you would have had great fun doing it.
Congratulations Rosie, you must be thrilled to be having a grandchild, very exciting time for you all.
Diva is certainly big, and looks a bit fed up and uncomfortable in the top picture. Yes it is Tarka and Ceilidh that let you know when it is bed time, I think Logi tries to take Ali to her bed too when he thinks its time for bed but I could be wrong. Ceilidh is not as bed now though, she and Paddy have been put in the utility room to sleep instead of in the bedrooms and it seems to be working well but once someone gets she will come straight upstairs and plonk down on her bed in my room and stay there for until I get up.
One of the neighbours was out shooting yesterday and brought a couple of pheasants round last night and stayed for a couple of glasses of wine. He left his jacket on the floor as it was dirty and smelly from the shoot and Ceilidh was cheeky enough to try to dig it into the right position to roll on it! Completely intrigued by it.

Bed time

Ilka keeps putting her self to bed it's almost every night and on Friday I went baby sitting and apparently she gave a look as if to say 'it's my bed time' and put her self to bed at about half ten where she stayed until I got home about one so I took her outside then she came back in and went strait back to bed, it's so funny when she does it and you can't get her out once shes gone to bed she stays there usless she knows shes going outside. Is it Tarka and Ceilidh who also know when they want to go to bed? And do any others do the same?
Well done Maggie and Karen
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAJIK sorry its so late.
Loads of great pics.
And Blooming huge Diva wow she looks like shes going to pop hope all goes well.

2nd for Maggie

Maggie got second in her class obedience last night. Just a bit of fun really but enjoyable. There were seven altogether and Nellie (Maggie's whippet friend) got first. We had to heal off lead, a controlled retrieve, a smart recall, sit stay for one minute and down stay for 2 minutes. Nellie beat Maggie on the heal work, because although Maggie did stay close most of it was on two legs instead of one and on the retrieve she thrust the dummy at me instead of giving it calmly. The instructor said she was slightly over enthusiastic but would calm down with age although I may have to wait a long time!

Rosie, congratulations on your forthcoming grandchild!

Ali, Diva looks huge - but beautiful!

catch up

Not been around for a while there is so much to catch up on. Sorry I missed Granny Majiks Birthday hope she had a fun day. Loved the picture of Beecham he looks so much like Ringo.
Diva is blooming I bet you can't wait for all those lovely pups. We have just found out my daughter-in-Law is expecting a baby at the beginning of July we are all excited as it is our first grandchild,
we are trying to stop Ringo's over exuberant greetings and he has to have time out when visitors arrive. He still shows no sign of calming down apart from bedtime when he tries to go to sleep on the bed:),with Stig there as well I think we need a bigger bed. He does get off eventually to sleep but gets on agin at 6,3o for a cudddle.

Blooming Hell!!!!

Above is of Diva at 10 days pregnant to give you something to compare!!!

Well we now have 1 week to go, she is uncomfortable and struggling to get comfy on the bed at night or anywhere for that matter but she is enjoying the fresh roast chicken served up 5 times a day. She is also into guarding me at the moment very unlike her, but sits at my feet and wont move unless I do!!! No malice of course just wants her Mum. Please excuse the rubbish and mess in the background I had a day out today and left the men to look after things so what else do you expect!!!!!

Not always so good!

Thank you Karen & Elspeth - I was especially pleased because about a year ago Maggie managed to get into someones private garden here in Holton that has a large garden with a pond and lots of feathered friends. Although she didn't manage to catch any, (not for want of trying!) she did manage to empty the said garden entirely of all the ducks and geese. They flew up, ran off and scattered themselves all across Holton. For days after I would see the lost birds looking a bit lost all around the village and hoped they would find their way back. I think the people must have been out at the time, but must have wondered where all their birds were when they came back. I was so nervous and embarrassed after that that I took her out on a long line near the garden and did some leave it commands. Then I avoided walking past there for a long time! I think this is the first time since then she has come into direct contact with them.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MAJIK!!!!!!!
Hope she was spoilt rotten.

You should be very proud of Maggie Karen, I am sure the temptation would be too much for most so fantastic to get her back on second call!!!
It has been the most miserable weekend weather wise so I have no new pictures, everytime the cmera came out the lens got sleet or rain on it so just blur instead of pictures. Hopefully it will brighten up soon!!!

Well done Maggie

for coming back without a duck!

Heart attack in Stanton

My sister invited me over this morning for a walk with her in her village. We had a lovely walk across the footpaths in Stanton. Near the end of the walk we had to cross a small bridge over a river. Maggie obviously jumped in and began to swim downstream. Jan and I watched her as she mounted the bank on the far side into someones garden. Suddenly there was an almighty squawking of ducks and geese and flapping of feathers with Maggie in the midst of them. I could see Jan falling out with her neighbours and me not being invited back again. I nervously fumbled for my whistle which had got caught in my coat and called her back not thinking for a minute it would work as she was having far too much fun. And it didn't. Panicking I whistled her again, but this time my little angel jumped back in the river and swam back to me! I would have given her a big hug, but she was soaking wet)lol I put her on the lead and walked on trying not to make too much of a deal about it and Jan walked behind saying how impressed she was. Secretly I was jumping up and down, completely smitten with my Maggie.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

Happy Birthday Mummy Majik

I hope you had a lovely day. Here is a picture of me in Scotland in November 2008; I was waiting to go to bed.

Sue says she loves all the photos and hopes to catch up in the week.

Love Beecham xxxx
Majik would like to say thank you for the birthday wishes and it is very nice to see her wedding photo.

Morning's Walk

Took the dogs to Shotover Country Park this morning, it's about a 5min drive from us and a popular place for dog walkers. Maggie gets to meet lots of other dogs here which she doesn't at home. Shotover plain used to be the main road to London and notorious for highway men. You can still drive a car accross it but it's advisable to do it in a four wheel drive. I used to drive to work accross it as it's a shortcut to Headington where I worked and no traffic jams! The bottom picture was taken on the plain which as you can see is also popular with the moles! It's devided in the middle by stone boulders and the other side is a hard stoney track. There is also woodland and over the otherside on the estate is popular for shoots. Never seen deer here but there are pheasants and lots of rabbits. Maggie loves hunting in the woods. You can take a number of different marked walks, long or short. This morning we did one that took about an hour and a half. Also a lot of people take their horses up here as lots of bridle ways. Maggie as usual didn't stop running and hunting and came back very dirty. She has now had a wash and her breakfast and is fast asleep.
