Lots to catch up on!
Lovely to have you join us Jean lovely photo's of your family too, don't Narla's babies look lovely and yes Sandra Narla's milk must be extra good as they are such big gorgeous dollops, I will love watching Tallulah and Narla's babies growing up on here, sort of makes up for not having one myself. Jean, you are spot on as Logi and Sadie really did adore each other, Sadie is the only dog in the world that would distract Logi from me or from showing, if she walked past somewhere in the vicinity he always knew and so did I as he would shoot off dragging me with me with, it was never about seasons and things it was pure love, he was always more interested in kissing her face then sniffing the other end!!!!! As you say Jean I am sure she would approve.

Tessa hope Evie doesn't go too stir crazy, I am probably having Diva spayed next week too, so no doubt will be saying much the same as you next week!! Things are a little frantic here as Prima is in full season and Logi is OK but wow Darcy is a little hyper, think it's because he is young he doesn't quite understand it all but knows he needs to get to her, not mating Prima now this time as I need a operation and wouldn't manage puppies too well, so best to put it off till March, should of moved to Mudlarks by then so far easier. Besides we have Lula's and Narla's babies to focus on now, don't want to flood the market with a litter of mine too!!!!!!! That might be greedy!!!! Also Judith is away in November so she wont be here to listen to my worries that I always have!!!

Anyway Sandra give Narla a cuddle from us, and Loudon the same to Tallulah, must organise another visit.
Kat, I have done every variation of training dogs, from being qualified to teach it and to learning new techniques, I truly believe a Munsterlander will learn anything, anyway you find it works for you, the only thing they don't respond too is harsh, physical methods, too rough and they will switch off and resist, I have seen it in dogs who people need help with, kindness, rewards and most importantly you being pleased with them is the best thing for a Munster, try out methods and see what feel the most natural to you, I find clicker training muddles me, because I am a tactile trainer, touchy feely!!!!! I am always stroking and praising and find that I don't have enough hands, I like me and my praise to be the reward rather than piling in treat after treat, having said that the clicker method works brilliantly for James, Barbara Butler, (a lady who does a lot of heel work to music in our breed) helped James and he is brilliant after Barbara's guidance, and actually clickers work very well for many, I just get muddled!!!!!!! No right or wrong way so long as your dog is enjoying what you are doing, if they are not then you will have to try something else. They only learn if they are happy and enjoying it. Darcy gives off the air of being Diddly dumb but ask him to do something, show him once, and he will do it perfectly every time, he is a clown but loves to do and to learn.

Anyway off to swap dogs and bitches around!!!! Keep the lovely pictures coming everyone, old and young the photo's are lovely.
Oh my Goodness Sandra - I can't believe how much the babies have grown. They look really well. Belated Birthday wishes - like you said what a wonderful birthday present Narla gave you.
Hi Jean and welcome to the blog. Lucky you having one of Narla and Logi's babies they are sure to be beautiful (although aren't they all!!!). Willow and Jensen look lovely - how do you think they will take to the new addition when it arrives? Sadie also looked beautiful - how nice that you have a bit of her in her baby. We lost one of our Flat Coats last year too so know what a gap they leave in your life. Do you live near Malvern or were you just visiting? I know that stretch of the Hills very well it is a great walk with the dogs.
Great pictures again of your pack Ali what characters they all are. Not long now for all those having a Tallulah pup- has anyone been to choose yet?
Evie was spayed yesterday. All went well although she was very wobbly last night but today she is back to normal. The only problem is trying to stop her running and jumping around like normal. I think it is amazing how quick animals bounce back from surgery. She also had a biopsy taken from a gland in her neck which keeps swelling so she also has sutures there too. I have got to wait a week for those results although they think it could be an abscess. Such a worry aren't they? I don't like to wish time away but I am looking forward to next week when I will be able to walk her again and will have the biopsy results back and get the right treatment for her.
Obviously will not be at the show on Sunday now so hopefully catch up with you all at a later date. Good luck to all those going.

Narla & Logi Puppies Day 4

Not sure what Narla is feeding these puppies on but they are certainly growing !!!
Hi Jean, great to have you on here, and lovely photos of willow and Jensen, hope they know what they are letting themselves in for, and that a new arrival will be on the way soon.
Loved the pictures in the trough Ali, they certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves, and nice to see a picture of Daddy Logi, chilling out.

Lovely pictures Jean - Willow and Jensen are beautiful as was Sadie. I am so sorry you lost such a lovely girl last year. I hope that your new puppy will help fill a little of the huge gap she must have left.

Thanks Karen - yes I got it on the link - great video Ali - Maddie looks like she was enjoying that.

Tuesday 29 September 2009

Hello Jean. I remember reading about Sadie last year, very sad. Jensen and Willow look gorgeous. Look forward to seeing your Logi/Narla puppy grow up, I'm very jealous.

Kat - training, voice and treats work best with Mazy, have tried training using the whistle, my problem is finding where I left it last time it was used. Have also done a bit of clicker raining with Domino and Mazy with some success. I would definitely recommend finding a good trainer preferably who takes classes outside in a field rather than a hall. I'm pleased at how Mazy is doing, she passed her Kennel Club Bronze good citizen already. Also as well as training classes we go to a social group where lots of dogs get to socialise and play in a field together with a bit of social training too. I wish there had been the same facility for Domino when she was young, although she enjoys it all at nearly 9 years old.

Karen, did you manage to view the video after all. Try this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwVcd3yGSbA&feature=autofb

willow and jensen

Hi Karen and everyone

Not sure if we have meet, I am very bad with names, hopefully here is a picture of Jensen and Willow.
First one is Jensen about 5 weeks old ( I breed Jensen-my Sadie only had 1 puppy!)
2nd one is Sadie and Jensen-yes he is named after Jensen Button.
3rd one is him at a day old.
4th is willow and Jensen-they have the sane dad, but different mums. Taken at Easter at Malvern.
It is only fitting that we have a Logi pup as my Sadie and him loved each other, and when I lost Sadie last year, it was so hard but I know she will approve of this pup and Narla is so beautiful.

Hi Jean, lucky you having a Narla and Logi pup! have we met? your dogs names sound familiar. Love to see a photo of Willow and Jensen.

I still can't see the video of Maddie - not sure why it's just me. Anyone any suggestions - really want to see it now.

Kat, training methods are often what suits you best and your dog. Clicker training is very good for somethings, but a handful of tasty treats, a happy voice and a bit of patience will often work wonders. I would definitely train to the whistle - when they are miles away it's a lot easier than shouting)lol I would recommend getting a good gundog book. The gundog club do a good one for puppies called The Right Start - http://www.thegundogclub.co.uk/shop/books/TrainingGuides/therightstart.htm

You could also get Grade one too. I found them very useful and will set you off on the right foot as it were. Read the puppy one before he or she comes!

Munsters are eager to please and fast learners and you will find training him/her very rewarding.

Happy Birthday Sandra / Training advice

Hope you've had a lovely day Sandra with the beautiful little puppies and Narla? They all look very content, cuddled up to their Mum. I can imagine it's amazing watching them grow before your eyes.

Ali - the photos and video are brilliant. Maddie definitely looks like she's enjoying herself.

One question for you all in my bid to continue preparing myself for incoming puppy. What training methods are people using/would you recommend? I so far had read bits on clicker, crate, whistle, dog whisperer, voice and I'm sure there were others. What have people found work, hints and tips etc?

Thanks in advance for your help

: D

Gorgeous day and here are some snap shots of my strolls!!!!

Sarah & Carl

Please will Sarah or Carl contact me, I am really sorry but I can't find your contact details at the moment.

Thank you all so much for the kind wishes, I have the best present ever. !!!!

Just a very quiet day today cuddling the babies and Narla of course, I will have to celebrate my birthday at a later date.

The puppies are like little mushrooms, they just grow overnight, they all have really fat little tums.
I had to laugh at one of the girls yesterday, she was lay on her back with her feet in the air feeding, and her big fat tum was pointing upwards, just stretched out feeding and not a care in the world.
So very lucky that Narla is such a good mum, she is totally chilled out with these puppies now, has them all organised, feeds them tops and tails them, just so lovely to watch.

Narla herself is doing well, she is eating well, and looks really happy and contended, I know some bitches when they have just given birth can have that worried agitated look, but like everything else Narla just seems to have taken motherhood in her stride.
At the moment I feel like I must be the luckiest person on the planet.
Happy Birthday Sandra

I too am gutted I can't have one of Narla and Logi's babies - they are going to be so lovely. Hope you have a lovely day.
Happy Birthday Sandra

Hope you have a lovely day cuddling puppies with Narla

Congratulations and Happy Birthday Sandra

So pleased you have a lovely litter - I'm quite jealous. Narla looks lovely and as Ali knows I have a huge soft spot for Logi.

Hope you manage to do something nice on your birthday as well as having to look after Narla and the babies.

Look forward to seeing more pictures as the puppies grow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA
have a lovely day cuddling your gorgeous babies
Lots of love from Ali, Logi and all the Blitzan family
The babies look gorgeous think I have already chosen my favorite!!!!!!! Can't wait to fly up and see them!! Obviously not until gone 4 weeks for Narla's sake. Love your post Sandra, 'Don't tell anyone'!!!!! Think a few people know now!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get some rest and recuperate, I know how exhausting it is, you will be feeling a lot better by the weekend and I am sure no one minds you taking your time to sort everything out, you need a clear head to get through all your emails.
I can't believe the gorgeous weather we are having, so sunny and mild for October, I hope it remains like this for the club show on Sunday. All these babies are making me broody again but I think it will be early next year before we have any babies here.
Sandra

The photographs are lovely, the puppies look so content and plump! Narla looks very relaxed too.

Happy Birthday for today!!

Look forward to seeing more photographs as the puppies grow.

Judith

Don't tell anyone but those puppy pads are actually incontinence pads, a friend of mine is the Manager at an old peoples home, she dropped me of a large box of them.
They use them for beds or to put on old peoples chairs, but to be honest their is very little difference between them and puppy pads. Except of course the price, but they were great, and far more absorbent than newspaper.
I still have a load left so they will come in handy for the puppies later and hopefully save the carpet a bit.

Sandra

They are lovely. Keisha wouldn't let me move her babies when the next was being born.Thank heavens for the puppy training pads, they are great to pop under your girl when a pup is being born. Can't wait to see them and if you are like me, you spend all your time just watching them!!!

One Day Old

Narla and Logis Magnificent Seven are one day old today. Mother and babies are all doing well, have put on weight and are a lovely contented litter.

Narla started in Labour late Saturday afternoon and the first puppy was born at just after 5am, on Sunday morning, the last one was born approx 12.45.

During the birth Narla was very attentive to her babies and although we had prepared a basket with a hot water bottle in and Vet bed, she wouldn't let us keep them in there while the next puppy was born. As fast as we put them in the basket she grabbed them back out, so rather than have her get stressed, she kept the puppies with her as she gave birth to the next.

We could tell when another puppy was going to be born as Narla nosed her puppies next to her, she put her front leg round one way and the back leg to meet it, encircling the puppies so they were safely nestled next to her when she gave birth to the next.

I have not seen this before, but she is very protective of her babies, she is happy for me to pick them up and look at them, but if I attempt to take one away she is not happy, so individual photos later, couple more from today, sorry they are not very bright.

I am still tired, but so very pleased with the new arrivals. Yesterday was very stressful, and one of the puppies was unfortunately born dead, despite our best attempts we could not get her started, and I think she had probably been dead for some time.

But at least we have seven healthy babies, but as I said to Ali this morning never ever doing it again, I remember now why I haven't had a litter for over twenty years !!

I haven't been up to answering emails just yet, but if you can bear with me, I will answer them shortly, as you can imagine the next few days are crucial and Narla and the puppies are the first priority at the moment.

Sunday 27 September 2009

Congratulations to Narla and Logi and well done Sandra!!!

Looking forward to seeing more photos - glad they have arrived safely.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Narla and Logi! Fantastic news and lovely pictures of the babies! They look so cute and cuddly - we can't wait to meet them!

Huge congrats to Narla and Logi, more adorable little bundles. I look forward to hearing all about how they get on and seeing lots more cute images of puppies.

Their Here

Just a couple of quick photos I took once Narla and the babies were settled.

More to follow when Narla and I have had a bit of a rest.

Narla has taken to motherhood like a duck to water, and is so gentle with her babies it is lovely to see.

All Done 5 Girls and 2 Boys!!!!

Looks like Narla who has done very well has finished, with a total of 5 Girls and 2 boys, a lovely sized litter, not too many so no need to bottle feed and wont drag Narla down too badly, and not too few so less likely to have too much milk and risk Mastitis. Well done Mum and Midwife you have done very well, a grand job, Logi is now passing around the cigars!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS NARLA & LOGI!!!!
Cant wait to see pictures of them you must be so proud, its nice that you are keeping us updated Ali, bet you cant wait to meet them and give lots of cuddles.
Congratulations Narla and Logi!!!

Looking forward to seeing them all. Good luck for the rest of today. Thanks for keeping us up dated Ali.
2 boys and 5 girls!!!!!!!!!

Keisha was stood like that for what seemed to be ages, never seen her do it before.
Well Done so far Narla, xxxx

Puppy News from Narla

Congratulations to Sandra and Narla.
Narla went into labour late last night and so far she has had 4 girls and 1 boy, all is going very well, she is no rushing it and being sensible, puppies are big and strong and fingers crossed ithe last half goes just as smoothly.
Judith to me it looks like Keisha is on point twice, she has obviously found fur and feather!!!!! Clever to stand on just two legs!!!!!

Saturday 26 September 2009

What is Keisha doing?

More baby Blitzans!!!!

Gorgeous or what!!!! I can't believe how lucky you are with the weather, I had a June litter which I hardly managed to get out at all a few years back and yours are September and managing to get out to play every day, what lucky babies.

LOL!!

It wasn't the kids that got me up early this morning, it was a certain Munster, her name begins with an 'M'. She has her alarm clock set for 6.30am same as a school day. She starts chewing and jumping on the bed like a naughty child. This wakes Domino up who then needs to go outside, so I give in and get up too.

Love the puppy photos!!

Morning all

Lovely pics Judith - the one of the little one in the porridge bowl reminds me of the one Ali took of Elsa standing in it.

Thought I was up early this morning for a weekend - took the dogs out at 8.30. Maggie brought me a pheasant back this morning - they are all over the place so not hard. I was carrying it home but saw the farmer coming towards me in the distance and was a bit embarrassed carrying the pheasant so hid it in some clover - may go back for it later)lol

Elsa is in season - luckily here we hardly meet any other dogs but I will need to be careful now. Think she is the first out of the Eternal litter to come in - only 8 months and still such a baby. Maggie was 8 months too though. She is not dropping too much at the moment and washing her self a lot.

Lovely weather and long may it continue!

Strider's & Lula's babies

Bet the babies have grown this week, now that they are on food, pics from my visit last weekend.Off out with doggies in abit.

Good

God Karen i only just got up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The joy of having older kids, plus i do get up at 4.15am to go to work. Will try again now.
Judith, can you upload images today? Sometimes my image upload window gets hidden and it won't let me open a second one.

Rosie, Ringo is gorgeous and he does look at lot like Logi. We should be going to the show too, will be lovely to meet you.

Friday 25 September 2009

help

I can't upload any pictures, the upload button is all pale and not working!!!!
Ringo is such a handsome boy Rosie and your little baby is adorable. Love the puppy pictures - you must be very proud Loudon and Grania. I would definately have to have one of the brown pups too but they are all lovely!

Which is which?

Grandfather and grandson striking resemblance don't you think. Rosie, Ringo looks gorgeous, you wont get passes for the club show it's only general champ shows that do that so just turn up. that will be fine looking forward to seeing you there must get some pics of the boys.

Puppies

Glad we have had the warm days still so the babies could start to go out in the playpen, like we all talked about at the weekend. It was lovely to see you all and it does puppies good to get outside in the freah air. will post my pics later.

Thursday 24 September 2009

They are gorgeous puppies Loudon, would be very hard to choose, although I do like the brown ones. Keep posting the photos, they are lovely to see.

Hi, Catching up

Hi all hope you are all well have been dipping in and out but have been so busy at the moment.
Hope you like the picture of my boys. Stephen is 9 weeks today and is an absolute joy we all love him to bits, Harry is indiffferent to him , Stig gets protective when strangers hold him and Ringo would love to give a good wash , The other day we where watching a Tv programme and a baby was crying Ringo shot up and look at me and Pete and then went and looked in his moses basket and was most miffed when he wasn't there.

Loving all the puppies the little brown ones and lovely. Everyone must be proud of Diva's babies doing so well at the shows. I nearly took Ringo to one in Northampton but chickened out at the last moment. We are going to Yelvertoft in October we have entered not for show but haven't received anything back yet, should we get any thing ?.

Beautiful Morning

I do love these autumn mornings. Sun shining, ground still quite dry and crops all been cut so you can see your dogs! Maggie and Elsa loved the walk this morning too. Usually although they play a lot at home, on walks they are both busy doing their own thing but today on the way home they decided to chase each other round the ploughed field. So funny to watch them.
