Congratulations to everyone for the show results today. Sounds like you all had a good time.
Also to Talulah and her pups. She looked delighted with herself in the photo from a few days back. It can't be too long till Narla's are due too. It's lovely to see puppy photos again.
Also to Hannah for getting the exam results you needed for your college course.
We're still in France and been extremely busy so not had a chance to take any photos for a while. The local farmer's wife came round today to invite us to the start of the French shooting season next weekend. Seemingly they start it off with a big celebration.
Kat, our boy is nearly 18 months and sleeps in a cage at night. He has always loved his cage at night-time but never really liked it during the day. We have used 2 Savic cages bought from Canine Concepts online (always been pleased with their service). You can buy a divider for the cage to make it smaller to start and bigger as they grow. We intially bought the Large size thinking it would be big enough but ended up buying the Giant later as we thought he needed more room. The only disadvantage I can think of is that it takes up a lot of room. We're planning getting another dog and 2 of these cages will take up a lot of room. We also use lots of peices of vetbed which washes and dries really quickly. He also loves his Kong stuffed with food; I found VetUK online to sell Kong toys at a good price.
Karen, here's a quote from my friend who left Scotland to live in Spain. She travelled through France and Spain with 2 small dogs ...
Regarding dog friendly hotels, we sometimes just stopped at places that took our fancy and asked! In France they LOVE dogs, so don't think we encountered any problems at all. Though often, we stopped at tourist offices, who are extremely well geared up for the tourist industry, very helpful, and often provided brochures with lots of hotels and their 'key symbols', which included whether or not they allowed dogs. They would often offer to phone and book you in too, when you'd made your choice. We often went in to the tourist office with the dogs, so they saw them.
Spain, well definitely not so dog friendly, many don't accept dogs. Though we stayed in some welcoming 'hostals' maybe like 1 or 2 star or student/travellers type accommodation which was simply furnished with ensuite, but without the grandeur of an imposing fully staffed reception and restaurant etc. These places often accepted dogs, and especially where the flooring was 'tiled' and not carpeted.
