Firstly well done to all at Paignton today - sounds like lots of your pups will be heading off to Crufts next year?
As to how i got munsterlanders. I had my first visit to Crufts back in 2005 and was going around the Discover Dogs area. We thought we had done them all when i spotted on more stand right on the end of the gundog group. It was the LM stand! Sitting happily by the stand was a beautiful veteran bitch - whilst my mom chatted to her Scottish owner I knelt next to the bitch and she was so gentle and calm i was smitten. However i wasnt allowed another dog at that time as we already had a springer and a springer/collie. I saw my second Munster in Croatia, who belonged to a German family.
In 2007 for my 18th Bday my mum took me to Aviemore on a dog sledding course - it was whilst we were there i managed to convince her to let me have a dog of my own to train to pull a single sled.
When we got home we talked and the reality was that a husky would not suit our family very well so i recalled those lovely big spotty dogs. My parents agreed to a munster but i was only allowed a bitch (even though i desperately wanted a dog). I raced onto the internet finding a litter available in Lincolnshire who had 3 bitches available. I spoke to Pat the breeder on the phone and we went to see them at 4 weeks old. I discounted one so had two to chose from - Kaia was so pretty and sweet she jst stole my heart. We collected her at 8 weeks.
I had dreamt of breeding a litter so hoped Kaias half swedish breeding would be ideal and i started to show her. However it soon became apparent she had a problem with her elbows, and was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia. I had to stop showing her as she limped too much and with a heavy heart I had her speyed. I was so devastated that my parents agreed I could have a second munster, but this time could have the dog i so longed for. Onto the interent once more and several weeks later home came Loki.
