We always had dogs at home so when I got married I felt lost without one - a home is not a home without a dog. Finally persuaded Tony on the basis that if I wanted one I would have to do everything. I like bigger dogs and lean towards the gundgs and after much research it came down to a Flat Coat or a Gordon Setter (I didn't even come across the LM). We ended up getting Jack our wonderful black Flat Coat and were hooked (even Tony) so 11 months later got Murphy our Liver Flat Coat. I really thought I would never have another breed until we lost Jack to cancer last year when he was only 6 and Win lost one of her Flat Coats when he was just 5. As it is an increasing problem with the breed and because it was so devastating loosing him so young and so suddenly I knew that I could not have another one. I had admired the LM at crufts so knew this was a breed I wanted to look at. If I am honest I thought they looked like Black and White Flat Coats. I also liked the Newfoundlands and The Italian Spinone so did a lot of research, spoke to breeders and owners, visited champ shows etc. The finally decision was made thanks to Marie Spence (Jordi's owner) who invited us to join her on a walk with her three LM. As soon as Jordi jumped out of the car we knew that was the breed for us. We loved their looks and their character - we were not given any false impressions as Tony had to help Marie pull Charm out of a rabbit hole that she had dug into. At the same time Win also decided that she would like one too so it was Win who got in touch with Wendy D. who put us in touch with Christine and Raymond who were expecting a litter from Eva. Fortunately we were both able to have one from this litter and so Evie and Freddie entered our lives. I am hooked and love the energy of this breed and their wonderful temperaments and the outstanding loyalty that they have for their families (especially their chosen one which I am happy to say is me in Evie's case). I will definately have more Lm in my life.
