It's just 13 days now til we bring our new little friend home. My gundog books have arrived and I've read book one about settling the puppy at home and some basin conditioning you can do ahead of proper training- very useful thanks for the suggestion Karen. Not sure we'll do everything it says, but a lot of it is very useful, especially if we can try to instill some good behaviour early on.
We've done a lot this week in puppy proofing our house including moving items which are most likely to be in reach and fun to chew on, getting the crate set up (and then remembering to order the divider - otherwise it's more like a playpen than a den!), moving the kitchen round to fit new crate in (along with a quick trip to Ikea to buy a breakfast bar table), buying some trellis to put on the top of the wall to stop the lowest part looking like it could be a tempting escape route and generally making sure things that don't need to be out or have some value are well hidden!
So we're almost there... no name yet though, that's our last decision to make, although may wait now until he comes home and see what suits him best. Any suggestions for fun names welcome though, he's the biggest of the bunch as it stands at the moment and was the fourth one out if that helps with any names ideas?
Some we've thought of so far include Delta, Digger, Shadow and Diago....
