Firstly I have invited another Munster lover to join our happy family, Victoria, or Tor as I think she prefers, we have been in touch for a while now and they have booked a Prima puppy too! Tor has been an avid reader of the blog but didn't think she could join in until she had a puppy, I said to join in now and share her excitement with Elspeth, Karen and everyone. I will leave it to Tor to do an introduction.
As for running off doggies, some of you will know this story about 5 years ago when we lived in Woodfalls Maddie and Zeta ran off and went into some woods after a Deer and didn't come back, Andrew and I went looking when Zeta turned up with her leg ripped open, panic set in and I rang the vets whilst Andrew went to find Maddie, he found her lying down and shaking, we had a quick check over her and no obvious sign of injury so we put her in the car and flew to the vets, we thought perhaps Maddie and Zeta had got tangles in some barbed wire and Maddie was in shock with the blood from Zeta, anyway to cut a very long story short, whilst Zeta was being repaired I toweled Maddie dry and found a hole which was too big to leave so took her back to the Vets upon examining her under anesthetic it seemed she had been skewered on a metal pole as the hole ran the full length of her body starting at her chest and coming out at her groin. She had her whole body opened up and cleaned out there were rusty flakes and leaves in her body, it just missed major organs. She had over 40 stitches and a drain in.
We went to investigate what could of caused such a horrendous injury and we found a poachers trap, it was placed where the deer jumped through a hedge designed to stab one and keep it, it had barbed wire all around it and it was a three foot metal steak, she must of jumped the hole become stuck on the spike and then reversed off of it. One very lucky girl, this was one of the main reasons we didn't breed from her, I was concerned about the strain on the scar tissue as she got bigger with pregnancy.
So I am glad Maggie is fine and she is a very clever girl to get home safe and sound, these dogs really do need to come with a health warning!!! and not for the faint hearted!!
Sophie, Ilka's eye will soon clear up bless her and yes I know what you mean about that idiot man putting her off as a breed they are so clever they remember everything good and bad, she will eventually get over it honestly, Summer got over her worries and is now fine.
