Lots of toys! It will discourage them from chewing your stuff. Saying that Elsa did have a passion for my shoes and managed to destroy 4 pairs!
I never used a crate but know some people really like them and I can see their benefits. Instead of a crate I sectioned off a small area in the kitchen to shut her in when I had to leave her on her own with a stair gate which worked well until she cottoned on that Maggie was going somewhere exciting without her. She had an amazing set of lungs on her! In the end I used to ask my son to look after her for me who happened to be around a lot at the time which was a bit silly because although she made a great bond with him and to this day greats him over enthusiastically she now hates being left unless she has Maggie with her. So I have made a rod for my own back and every time I have to take Maggie out without her she needs a babysitter)lol The thing is to start how you mean to go on - take it from someone that didn't! I tend to have beds in every room - material ones. When Elsa was tiny we had a lot of cushions in it to fill it up but she tended to go and get in with Maggie anyway. Now the only beds they really use are the ones in our bedroom at night time - the rest of the time its the sofa or floor! The bed with the ring inside sounds like a good idea.
I envy you though - such an exciting time waiting to go and bring them home. Good luck with it all!
