corwall
She also has been off her food while we were away and acting a bit strange, she seems happy to be home and running around the garden now. A couple of male dogs were showing some intrest in her, but she keeps her tail well down and nothing has changed.
Great video Ali
Great video
Great pics every one.
Clever Girly
Hi
Hope everyone's enjoying thier weekends. I let Maggie off the lead as soon as she could go out, but I had a safe paddock to do it in. She never went far from me when she was little there and I could practice her recall. Did get more worried about it when I was away from home though and did keep her on an extended lead until I knew I had a good recall. I can understand Ali's point though - and they definately need that free running quite early on - although I wouldn't have known that they needed it to build up muscle strength - you learn something everyday on these blogs!
I'm looking forward to seeing this video of Summer Ali (if you haven't already posted it). Maggie wont even push a door open, just stands there waiting for someone to let her out. Slightly concerned that I might be getting the daughter of an escape artist )lol
Pictures -
Ali - when we meet up in Basinstoke area end of June - Fiona said would try and join us - maybe we should work out a date and location?

Elspeth, Yes you do need to extend Ceilidh's legs a bit more, have a look at Diva's pick and hopefully you will see what I mean, by the way the picture is an old one she was 4 months, just thought she would be more like Ceilidh back then as both babies. Also added one of her at Birmingham last year, as the two show how much she has matured and grown on.
Sophie, Summer is a real escape artist, she not only opens every door in the house but the windows which have safety catches on! I have go a video of her doing it, I have put it in slow motion so you get full flavour also the one of her opening it with me in the room, she didn't actually open it as James was holing the handle on the other side but it does show her technique!!!!!!! I will upload it in a moment.

First walkies
Hudson has been back to the vets today. He had a tick on his ear (we had no idea what it was) So now he has Advantix. But he also has more soreness on his tummy so he has had an atbiotic injection and needs to be washed in a special shampoo in a couple of days.
So sorry to hear about Leah
Few pictures from our little walk up the fields. After this point at a crow, a tractor came flying over the top of the hill spreading fertiliser so we did some practice. Bit difficult on the track but practice is good none the less. Especially with the distraction of little birds flying everywhere infront of her! Should I be putting her back legs back more? This picture looks very upright.
Not the best of picture of the trot, really need to get the better camera battery charged, it has a much faster shutter speed. It would really make the difference. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and not too wet!!!
You are all Safe
Brodie has grown so much Sharon!!!! Just let us know when you fancy a walk. I told you it would tire him out completely! Bet you he is an absolute angel tonight! Not saying he isn't normally of course!
Ceilidh is sitting happily ripping the stuffing out of her toy goose. It has become her new favourite game, rip the toy and pull all the stuffing out. Looks like a weekend of sewing ahead. I refuse to go and buy her more toys when she is doing that to them. I think it is 6 toys in the pile now. The only one that hasn't had it is her teddy bear which sleeps under our bed with her, she loves teddy too much. It is the birds (duck, pheasant and goose) that have had it the worst. I doubt she would be good at retrieve if she ever went to work! She would throttle anything before giving it to you. She can point and flush well though!
I had better go. She has climbed up onto the computer desk looking for another walk (3rd of the day) Must be all of the extra food I am giving her to make up for the not eating before.
How is leah today Ali?
Brodie's First Day Out
Well...............
My God it was bad though total downpour and the Thunder and lightenimg was riht above us, blinding and deafening, the dogs are great though they sat at the french windows watching it all.
Glad your OK Karen, it was funny waking up and putting GMTV on only to see Crewkerne, I have just dashed to doctors but can't get my pills as Chemist is flooded and then dashed to printers to check the Newsletters were safe!!!! They are thank goodness.
Lovely picture of Sophie and Ilka on nearly Daily Dog.
We were lucky!
Wet anyone?
Last thing you need Ali, Fire, Plague and Pestilence kind of thing - you are having it all............
On a lighter note Sophie and Ilka are my subjects for todays Almost Daily Dog - off the front of either www.thelargemunsterlander.com and www.munstermag.homestead.com I really do like this "putting faces to names" Judith - can I have a pic of you and the boys?

So sorry for your news Ali. The slide show of her is wonderful!!! Big hugs and kisses to Leah and all of you. Thinking of you all. The flying ears are just for you Ali.
Pictures ar eof our walk today. There is a video of her burying her new pig snout to come. it will not upload just now so i will try again later.
Leah's slideshow
A celebration of a wonderful Lady
It's bad news the tumor is back, had I known I obviously wouldn't of had her operated on, but then if I hadn't we couldn't of done the test to diagnose her troubles.
The Vet was lovely with her we sat on the floor and Leah sat on the vet and washed her face for her! In return Alex the Vet gave her a wonderful hug, arms round the neck and a big squeeze, Leah's tail nearly wagged right off!
All we can do is continue to love, cuddle and spoil her, which you know we do anyway. Such a special girl.
Family
As they have just recently turned 7 I thought I would doo a slideshow of the three of them.
Smashing Pictures
Off to the Vets with Leah this afternoon as have found another lump, I will keep you all posted.

Hard of Hearing!
Glad Leah was feeling ok yesterday - hope she is having a good day again today - lovely photos.
Judging by how Maggie looked after her toys so well during her phantom pregnancy I think she would have made a good mum too.
Nice photos of Domino and Jetta Karen. Hope you have fun with the kids today.
What a horrible wet day it was yesterday. I foolishly decided to take the kids to soft play, it was heaving with people which I should have expected. Much drier today and have been for a lovely early walk with the dogs. Domino and Jetta seem to be quite happy but neither of them want to play with each other at all, so I haven't managed a photo of them together this week. Though Domino did make Jetta to move off the settee last night, I should have had a video camera, Domino didn't say anything just stood in front of Jetta and pushed her off the settee with her eyes. Then a bit later Jetta had a bit of a run in with the cat, we didn't see it but I think the cat won.
I love the photos of Leah and the other dogs. I hope Domino is as kind as that when her new friend arrives.Off to entertain the children now although I could really do with going back to bed!
Photos and Videos..........

B.C. Munsters
Ali, Duchess is motherly also, always licking eyes and ears. She would have made a good mummy! We had her spayed last fall, as there are no Munsters anywhere near here, and Duke bless him drove us all nuts although he has none,(nuts that is) nobody told him!!
Give Leah a scratch for me!
Joanne
Double take
SPINACH (spelt correct this time Mrs Blitzan) I only give it for about 3 days when i notice someone eating grass. Which is something mine dont do all the time.
Took me 2 hours to get home from work tonight, finally got in at about 7pm, Some one managed to drive off/fall over the Avon Gorge on to the road below in a JCB so road will be close for about 5 hours, Not sure how this happened, maybe it will be on the late news tonight.
Majik thought her troat had been cut, i got the where's my dinner look you are late !!!!
Judith
Leah an Up Date
This is our Leah today, Mother earth, washing the face and ears of Summer with Prima queuing up for her time. Bless her she is still such an important person in our family, I don't know what we will do without her us or the dogs.
She is very bright and happy today and as Elspeth said she has been a bit vocal today, not barking but very chatty and busy being Mum, I love her so much, we all do. A special lady our Lea - Lou.
Happy for Leah and pleased Ceilidh is now better.
It is miserable here today! Ceilidh is pleased though because the muddy puddles are back!!!!!!
Not long spoken to Ali, so I can report that Leah is having a good day today, she was incredibly vocal on the phone!!!!
Judith I forgot to say, I tried the spinach aswell as everything else. Is it okay to give a little spinach a day or only when they have a tummy ache? She is completely better now and back on normal food, hungrier than ever.
Elle, i promise i will send you some pictures soon!! My memory is awful but I promise I will!!!
Hi Folks.
Love and hugs to Leah.
Glad Ceilidh is eating, and hope Leah is ok.
And sorry to hear about hackers, can't stand stupid people who do that sort of thing there's no need what so ever.
Emails are such a private thing, and can hold confidential information too.
On a slightly happier note, I think Ceilidh is better. She ate her meal mixed with 3 scrambled eggs and yoghurt, and I put some soft meat and gravy in a bowl to the side for her if she felt like it this morning. She ate the lot and was looking for more! How is Leah doing? Is she brighter today? I hope so, you should have a day of snuggles with her to help cheer you up a bit after all of this.
Sophie, I forgot to say, I will have a look at your dads website. My parents will be needing curtain poles soon as they have a new huge house and are now starting to think about curtains. Does he do gates or just poles? They need a big gate for the front. Ceilidh wandered off out the garden at the weekend there. Nearly got me and her killed but that is another story, stupid blind drivers is all I can say!!!

E mail fraud and Identity theft
Hope all your munsters get well soon.
Glad Leah is brighter and still hoping and thinking for you all.
E mails
ali@blitzanmunsterlanders.co.uk
Thank you
Zydo and Ceilidh
Ceilidh sounds like she has an acid tummy maybe after a mild bug or stress related from her first big show. The yogurt I would give twice a day about 4 tablespoons first thing in the morning and then again about an hour before her tea, Fancy suffered with terrible tummy aches and she would eat charcoal tablets out of my hand, she would turn her mouth black crunching them up but it worked to get rid of the gas in her belly, I bought them from my local chemist. Also put her on Buscopan, you buy these from the chemist as well and can give her one twice a day, hour before meals, the vets can also prescribe these but it's much cheaper to buy over the counter, I am sure she is just acidy, the yogurt, buscopan and charcoal all work, if we ever ran out of charcoal she would eat coal out of the bucket when her tummy was bad. The spinach also helps as Judith mentioned.
Eating grass I am sure is a something they crave when their tummies are sore but it can become a habit.
As for Zydo and coughing it sounds like a mild case of Kennel cough, if you gently press on his throat does that make him cough? If so then it more than likely kennel cough or a virus, like a cold, Logi has had one for a week or two now, not coughing just a runny nose. Give the Adult Bennilyn for tickly coughs it works wonders, if it persists get your Vet to have a look all the way down, I know you have looked but it is hard to see as far as they can with their instruments.
Good luck everybody hope all the info helps please let me know how you all get on.
Leah seems quite bright today, definitely brighter than yesterday but her glands are now permanently swollen.
Coughing
coughing
I hate ticks - horrible things. I have never found one on Maggie but Tilly has had them a couple of times. I pull them out with tweezers very slowly and very carefully - just keeping a slight pressue until they let go - but got told off by the vet for doing this because of the risk of leaving the mouth part in.
Had a lovely walk again this afternoon with Maggie and her friend Nelly. Nellie (a whippet) flushed a pheasant right under Maggie's nose, my mother praised Nellie and said what a clever girl she was - After that Maggie was determined to find one herself - so busy running back and forth - she eventually flushed one up and then looked accross to me as if to say 'did you see?' - and then ran back to me to get a treat - so funny. She does make me laugh.
Eating
How old is Zydo is he from Strider or Jiggy ?
Strider is a very lean looking dog and Sarek looked like he was on a diet until he got to about 3 1/2 then bloomed.
Munsters do tend to go through a lean looking stage, (unless their name is Majik )which is why we say let your puppies eat well and has much has they want.
Advice Please
He now weighs in at 27.5kgs (will be a year old next month) but does look and feel very, very slim. (I wish this particular owner could look a bit more like her dog!!!!!!!!!!) Having been used to a big flatcoat I wonder whether I'm just not familiar with the LM shape or whether he is a bit light. He eats twice a day to appetite (which is more than the recommended amount - Laughing Dog) to which I add tuna a couple of times a week. Other than that he has nothing except treats when training. He has an hour of free running a day across heathland where he barely draws breathe or pauses in flight and then a couple of plays in the garden.
Also, I removed 3 ticks off him last week. Seem to have come away fine, and have now used Advantix. This was on Wed. On Sat he developed a cough and was bringing up white foamy liquid. In himself he seemed fine although perhaps just a bit quieter. The cough has since subsided and he only coughs a few times a day bringing nothing up now, more a clearing of his throat. He's still tearing around on his walks. I'm not sure whether it's a slight dose of kennel cough or whether something else perhaps linked with the Advantix. If the former and it worsens had thought to use paediatric benylin. We're not going to training tonight just in case he's contagious.
We'd appreciate comments and advice please! Thanks.
On her walk today she was terrible for the first bit of the way. Her recall was out of he window!! Gregor caught her and put her on the lead untill we turned back toward home. After that she was as good as gold if not better! My dad taught me that one and it really does work. She clicked so quickly that "if i don't come when told I will go on the lead for the fun bit of the walk" So she did redeem herself.
Vet just called and all tests showed she was fine and they recommend the yoghurt too just to help get her back to normal. So good news there. Hope Leah is doing well Ali.
It is a catering company Karen. I will explain a bit better about it if all goes well.
Maggie will be pleased about her walkies!!!! It is starting to look miserable and stormy here so Ceilidh will have a forest walk this afternoon to keep us all sheltered.
Well done
Good luck Elspeth with the business - what sort of business is it you're hoping to buy? Hope Ceilidh feels better soon. I found natural yogurt works a treat for upset tummies. As for eating grass - my mother's Visla has always done this - think she just enjoys it - so although can mean an upset tummy can also be for other reasons I think. Maggie went through a period of not wanting breakfast. I used to give it to her first thing but now I give it to her after her morning walk when she has more of an appetite - seemed to work. Also scrambled eggs and toast always went down well in the morning!
I have never had problems with my email thank goodness although my son got a virus on his laptop a few months ago -fixing it practically wiped all of his stuff off! Some people must leave very sad lives if all they have to do is try to ruin others.
Actually no rain this morning so off for a nice dry walk with Maggie - yeahhhh!
Ceilidh
Keep me posted.
Ceilidh ate breakfast today (milk seems to do the trick) so for dinner tonight I will try her back on meat I think. She needn't think she will get cereal, milk and mixer for every meal!
Re Hackers
I have NEVER upset anyone in this breed nor has the person who the e-mail was meant to be from we are just not like that. (life is far too short and i know this)
So i would just like to say if you read this blog it didn't WORK.
Which is something i must get off to now.
And a post i put on Saturday got accidentally remove by me because i hit the wrong button when i wanted to get back into it to add a bit more !!!!
Judith
ps i give you a call from work Ali.
Monday, 26 May 2008
Hope Leah has a better night, give her a hug from me and Domino.
Elspeth, sounds like Ceilidh is feeling better. I always thought that dogs eat grass because they have an upset tummy and want to be sick, but then I've read that they just like eating grass too. A few months ago Domino didn't eat or drink for a day or so, took her to the vet but before she went there, I found a tick on her, removed it and she was fine after that. There are masses of ticks here at the moment, our cat has had four in the last two weeks.
Good luck for Wednesday!
Thanks
Sorry to hear about hackers, and glad Ceilidh is eating.
Welldone
Ali, I cannot believe that they believed you, just goes to show how much they knew! Collie cross hairless! That is awful about your email. So strange. I hate how it is so easy for people to do that too.
I could throttle Ceilidh, she has had nothing to eat since a tiny (paddy sized) bowl of meal and mince yesterday morning. Refusing all food today untill 20 mins ago I put down some cereal and milk just to see if i could get her to eat anything at all. The devil ran for the bowl and started to scoff it down!!!!! I took it away and threw in a few hand fulls of meal and mixed it in, went down a treat! Begining to wonder if she was holding out for something better than her normal, so cheeky! She is probably hormonal as you say Ali, just want the vet to check her out anyway, just incase. We should find out sample results tomorrow morning. She has been getting more sleepy today and tiring more easily so who knows what is wrong.
Great pictures Judith!
Hackers
Sophie I think for a first attempt you and Charlie should be very pleased with yourselves, all in all that's was good and great for Ilka's socialisation, you know the judge may not of realised what Ilka was, I went to an Exemption show years ago on Exmoor when Tarka was a puppy, they were so excited as the organisers had an open show judge from up country to judge!!!!!!! When I took Tarka in he told me I was in the wrong class she should be in the crossbreed class!!! I didn't say a word I took her out and instead I put my Border Collie in the Crossbreed class, she was a pedigree but had a thyroid problem and was bald, I told him she was a collie cross Mexican Hairless, she won the class and went on to win BIS!!!! was that naughty? ;-)
Celildh is probably being a hormonal girl Elpseth, keep me posted please just not by e mail :-(
Well done
We're back
I took the pair of them in for most unusual pair and got second, and Charlie did well she came third in best small dog with Sid and got best child handler Sid did lots of little tricks and could have done more if asked to. So it was good and well worth going for Ilka.
What do I do now: I am working for Dad, not getting paid quite yet (though getting a new camera soon that I am mainly paying for) (he makes curtain poles web: www.blacksmithcollection.com) in the office doing invoices, labels, packaging ect ect have worked on a couple of his machines taking phone messages when Dads out ect ect and cleaning in the house, looking after the dogs ;-) Like to do something with horses/dogs and doing art work and/or photos been looking at making half-tree saddles, so not totally sure.
Hope Ceilidh is ok, and thinking of Leah.
Great pics every one.
Just a few pictures from todays walk. We bought her a dumb bell today so had fun trying it out! The sleeping picture is her just now.
A blast from
Here too
Sorry to hear you are not well Ali - hope you get better soon and Leah's upset tummy settles.
I don't think your mad at all Elspeth - If I had my way I would surround myself with Munsters! Have been given permission for another puppy next year so am hoping for one of beautiful Summer's - long wait yet though! I am looking foward to having two munsters playing together - Maggie and Tilly get on well but Tilly is way past the playing stage and a bit small for Maggie to have fun with although it doesn't stop her trying! It may give Tilly a break if she had another mad munster to play with. Don't think I could handle two pups quite so close together though but bet it will be lots of fun!
Lovely pictures of Hudson - love the one with his ears flying. Seeing all the lovely puppies recently has made me very impatient!
What a rotten day
Domino's friend Jetta has just been dropped off to stay here for the week, but neither of them like the rain, so we're stuck indoors. We really need to get the tent up too, as I take the children to Butlins at the end of June and it hasn't been used since last year. So I really wish it would stop raining.
Elspeth, we're having one of Prima's pups too, I think I would be pushing it a bit to have one of Diva's as well, but I reckon give it a couple of years and I'll have a third Munster.
Can I ask?
and www.munstermag.homestead.com
and - wanting to make it clear - you do not have to be a member of the FORUM to join in the other sections!!! What are the benefits? well the videos, get a longer viewing time, as not "interrupted" by other chat and the photos we are trying to categorise into sections so that people can almost have their own photo album on view!!! There is no pressure to do this - it is nothing to do with ratings or scoring points - just trying to enjoy the world of munsters!!!
oops forgot to include e-mail please use munsterlandergroupie@hotmail.co.uk or - my personal one if you know that one.............
Hudson Piccies
I have managed to get my picture options back so heres a few of Huds.... oh and a video of him playing in the garden
Thanks
Hope you get well soon Ali, and thinking of Leah.
Munster collecting me and Charlie would have loads, but Mum would move out, I think, (she says two dogs is enough, no it's not). Dad is getting converted he just wants to see her work, and Charlie is only aloud to have one after shes left school we will work on this, I am lucky to have even the one, paid for her my self and had been after a dog for years only aloud her after I left school.
Weather is very yuck here to we're going to ring up the show people to make sure it's not canceled first.
Yuck...........
Don't think you will get into Argos again today Judith, bet it's doubly packed! Your right Leah didn't squash me, (I have not been too well recently which most of you will know and my weight is awful again :-( ) but Leah isn't that big so yes legs went to sleep, I could even hear some snoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Not saying where it came from, Judith would know)
Hope the weather is better in Devon for you and Charlie, Sophie Good Luck.
Do you know Elpseth, you do remind me of me!!! Houseful of dogs etc; yes we're mad but what the heck you get so much back from the dogs it's worth every muddy footprint and spilt water bowl and sticky nose print! Not for everyone to have a houseful but think we would all have more that one if we could.
Karen the Trampoline will provide hours of fun and it really wears them out too, James spends ages on his, it was his Birthday present, his birthday is in December so it was the first time he used when he put it up a few weeks ago, but apart from yesterday he has been on it everyday.
Karen and Maggie I think your walk may be delayed again today if the weather is like ours some of my lot didn't even want to go out first thing for a wee, sure they would go for a walk but it's not the weather for me, will try and get around Andrew today, he has the water proofs after all!!
Have a good day I will get the camera out later and maybe as the weather is so bad we could have a photo day to brighten up the bank holiday.
Karen
Are you having one from the up coming litters? Gregor has said the same to me you know. The next house we get will have more land which means more dogs! and the next house after that etc etc... I don't think he realises just how many I would have!
That sounds good Ali for going to meet Alex. I will look up the distance etc and maybe book a hotel for the night to save huge amounts of travelling in one day. Ceilidh would be able to come I take it?
Sunday, 25 May 2008
Good luck
Ringo is catching up fast with Stig Rosie - such a cutie, some lovely photos.
Also lovely pics of Ceilidh and Paddy - you certainly had their attention with that liver!
Hope the kids enjoy the trampoline Karen - my boys nagged me for ages for one and eventually bought one themselves between the three of them with pocket money and saved birthday money. They have had it for a few years now and have all had loads of fun on it. When it came they asked their dad where they could put it up and he pointed to a tree at the far end of the field behind our garden and said over there! Poor things thought he was being serious lol!
We have had a seriously lazy day today - hope the weather is better tomorrow - puts me out for the whole day if I can't get out for a morning walk.
tomorrow
ps daddy jiggy sends good luck kisses
Ali, Lincs is a long way away isn't it? It would have been nice to meet Alex but he looks lovely in the photo and I know Prima is great, so that's OK.
Elspeth, are you having 2 pups, one from Prima and then one from Diva too? You know, Richard said today that one day if he's allowed the 27 aces of land he wants, I can have all the dogs I want to walk on it. He really shouldn't have said that!
How's Leah today, I keep thinking about her?
