Amusing little things...

I can't believe it's now over 10 weeks since Tallulah's puppies were born, and Narla's are growing fast and looking lovely.

Dodger is really starting to develop his own little personality now. With fantastic support and advice from Ali he's come off Puppy food as he was so hyper he was being a real handful. Not sleeping, not eating enough, biting everyone and thing. However, since changing him at the weekend, he's a completely different dog.

On adult food he's more chilled, responds to us calling and telling him 'no', plays with his toys rather than thinking we are toys to be chewed and sleeps through the night without issue. He's also eating a lot more which is reassuring and helping to give him a round belly.

We've also opened up most of our garden now for him to roam around and he loves it. Bit unsure to begin with as he was in a large puppy pen, but now he bounces around amusing himself. He's learnt to dig - coming in with a proud swagger and muddy face, keeps wondering why the cats won't come to play and seems to think the bamboo is something to be hunted.

He's also got an interesting trick with our bin too. It's a touch top bin, so he jumps up and opens it, then down again so the lid opens fully, then straight back up with face in to see if there's something he can reach as a reward! We now however change it more often so he can't reward himself - but having been told off he cleverly now only does it when we're not looking, usually just after we've walked out the room.

Plus where he's grown so much he can now reach the switch for the kettle, which although potentially useful, reminds us how much he's grown and the kettle is now further back on the side.

We've also introduced him to pig's ears and they are the best distraction thing for him. He'll leave anything for one of those and they keep him going for ages.

He's had his injections but have been told to leave it for a week before he's allowed out. We've got him a puppy harness which he loves (especially as he can just about chew a little bit of it) and we can then attach it to the car too for when he's on the back seat. So we're all set to go explore.

He's also chipped with a new chip that enables them to take his temperature when they scan, so avoiding a thermometer up the bum when he visits the vet which is a lot easier. Only cost £10 more than standard chip.

It is amusing how whenever we go out people think he's either a fully grown Spaniel or about 6 months old. Bless him at 10kg he's just a happy, healthy, rapidly expanding puppy!
