Some horrific stories on there Ali. Maggie and Elsa don't usually play with sticks, certainly don't throw them though Maggie like the pic above often wants one that is much too big to play with! I know some dogs like Nellie (the whippet above) who like to pick up sticks and then run with them, which is difficult to stop. We end up screaming at her to put it down. My heart is always in my mouth if I see a dog running with them. Bit like when you see children running with a lolly in thier mouth.
