We were very impressed with how well Brodie coped with the long drive home to Scotland yesterday. Although he was sick 30 minutes into the journey he settled down on my lap and slept most of the way back which took us 7 hours. Fortunately both him and I stayed clean during the complete journey, which I hadn't expected - I'd brought extra clothing with me just in case I needed a change!
And he slept all night - I hadn't expected that either! We put him down at 11pm, it took him 5 minutes to settle into a comfy position, there was no crying or barking. We had him at the side of our bed along with his toys and blankets he'd brought with him from Judith's. He slept through till 5am when I had to get up myself, so I took him outside where he immediately did the toilet - poor sole by the amount he did he'd managed to keep it in well. I then put him back to bed for a couple of hours then woke him back up at 7am. I'd expected crying and toilet trips all night so I was really impressed.
Unfortunately the relationship with the cats is still work-in-progress, but we're trying every so often to get the cats and him a little closer together.
Here's a picture of him with a new toy a friend gave him. She says her 11 month old dog loves these toys. Brodie seems to go a little hyper with it - do they impregnate dog toys with anything to excite them?
Judith, we're really impressed at how well he's settled in and how few toilet accidents we've had (all of which have been our fault - now we know what we're looking for we've not had any accidents all day). He seems really well behaved - apart from the frantic mad activity periods which tend to occur right after he's been fed :) I expected it to be a lot harder than this - although maybe I shoudn't speak too soon!
Elspeth, we're in Dunfermline, where are you?
