Elspeth, I think I know where the entrance to Devilla Forest is. I’m thinking it’s on the road from where I am to Kincardine – nearer the Kincardine end of the road on my right. Is there only one lay-by entrance to get in to it? Even if Ceilidh doesn’t spend any time with Brodie it would be nice to chat to you and Gregor again and you can give us some tips on the best routes to take in Devilla Forest. I’ve heard it’s good for dog walking but we’ve never been in it before.
You were asking when Brodie bites – it can be at any time not just when he greets someone. He bites less frequently now than he used to and grabs on to clothes more now rather than skin. I think we’re making progress and it will just take time. I can think of at least 6 items of my clothing that he’s ripped so far! First thing I do now when I get home from work is change into old clothes. He listens to Jim more than me but Jim and him are together all the time. He does chew on the nylon bones but prefers the rawhide ones. Judith gave him a rawhide one in his puppy pack which lasted 3 weeks. We bought a new one at the weekend and he had it in pieces within 30 minutes. I think his jaws are getting much stronger. You will see a big difference when you see him on Saturday.
Jim’s been taking Brodie to areas during the day where he can let him off the lead. He’s been staying close by Jim. In the evening we’ve been walking around busy streets and past local shops to get him used to the noise and the people, although he doesn’t seem upset by anything, which is good. He pulls constantly on the lead during these walks but I don’t know the best way to correct him yet but I’m looking forward to finding out at his training classes! I looked at a few books but it will be easier to understand when someone shows me how to do it and can correct any mistakes I make.
