Hi all - first Lins so sorry to hear about Lucky, a difficult decision but at least she's from any pain now.
With Dodger we religiously took him out every half hour to start with and used special cleaning stuff from Pets at Home for any pees inside the house. He got the hang of it quite quickly and we stuck to a routine of after he'd eaten, as soon as he woke up, once he'd been playing for a bit and when we took him out we'd wait until he peed then lots of praise and back in again.
Finally after a couple of weeks of waiting Dodger's blood test results have come back - food based anyway. It shows he is allergic (although relatively mildly but enough to cause tummy upset etc) to beef, chicken and cows milk!
This is quite concerning as we had been told by the vet to feed him a bland diet of chicken and rice etc and then chicken with his biscuit whilst we waited for the results. It probably helps to explain why it went on for so long and why he seemed out of sorts and restless so much of the time.
He's been a bit better over the last couple of weeks, but we've been putting the chicken and some biscuit in the blender and making it into breadcrumbs, so he won't really have had too much thankfully just enough to coat the biscuit.
So at least we know and can now give him treats and food that won't cause him any problems so fish, lamb, turkey, pork, rice, cereals, potatoes etc all ok. Have given all our treats that did contain things he can't have to a friend of ours who has 2 Alaskan Malamutes - they think Christmas has come early!
Going to swap him onto the Salmon Skinners I think now as he much prefers that to his Duck, so now we're pretty much out of duck it seems like a good time to swap him over. Have a 2.5kg bag to introduce it over - hoping it won't upset his tummy too much as it's same brand just a different flavour.
We've also got him some Fish 4 Dogs treats which he loves. They certainly got his attention and helped at Bronze training last night.
Thank you everyone for you help, support and suggestions during this time - it's been a constant worry that has now been lifted.
