We went back on the same walk this morning but paying more attention to Domino, trying to note when she was starting to get wound up. It only happened once, when she caught the scent of something in a ditch. I called her and she came straight away (I had a bit of sausage with me today instead of plain treats) and put her on the lead and walked up and down for a couple of minutes until she calmed down, then let her go again. She was fine for the rest of walk and where she saw the squirrel yesterday, she was looking up at the tree where it was before, when I called her she came running after us and was very obedient. So that's made me feel better, thank you for the advice yesterday. Karen, I took a toy but Domino wasn't interested in playing at all, but the sausage worked I think. I'm going to make some liver cake later.
Before the walk though Domino and I had the fright of our lives. Just as we came out of our drive. My friend and Jetta were with us again and the dog next door (a patterdale I think) came charging out of their garden and went straight for Jetta and had hold of her neck for what seemed like ages. The owner came out and got the dog and thank fully it didn't hurt Jetta (she has lots of curly fur so that probably protected her). This same dog attacked another neighbour's Westie not long ago and we saw them just after this happened, his dog did get hurt but he didn't report it. My friend was very upset but is worried about reporting the dog because they live next door to me, but I am fuming, I even said to the owner they need someone to come and help sort out that dog's behaviour, whether they listened I don't know. The owner said they were sorry but why was dog loose in the front garden when it had attacked a few weeks earlier?
If Alison and Jetta hadn't been with us, Domino would have been attacked, the dog didn't even try to greet us it just went for Jetta. I know I can't report the incident because it wasn't my dog that was hurt, but I think I'm going to ring the dog warden and just ask for some advice and go and speak to the owners - or do you think I should leave it?
