Have just read your response Peter and I think you are right there is a communication problem between us. It is simple - Evie just totally ignores me on walks and yes she does know that she has got the better of me (so far). I can,t pinpoint where I have gone wrong exactly as I have done all the same as I did with my flatcoats who were never like this. Obviously they are quite a bit different and I have got to learn how they work and adjust things a little. Trouble is how do you regain respect from a dog who has learned not to have any for you when out walking? I
walked her off lead in a deer fenced area this morning and she was worse than ever even refusing to come to the gate at the end of the walk. In the end I was feeling so frustrated that I left her and sent my husband to go and get her. I understand the principles of pack leadership and am careful not to give the dogs too much status so not sure how I can pull Evie back. Am really looking forward to seeing Christine and Raymond on Tuesday. Do you have any tips Peter (or anyone) how I can regain her respect?
Unable to go on Sunday Peter but maybe I could meet you at another meeting somewhere.
Sorry Sophie I didn,t get around to answering your question -yes I will be at the championship show in June. Looking forward to meeting you there.
