Don't know much about Ferrets John, except they can give a nasty bite. I would have thought it is probably an escapee and hopefully gone this morning. If Theo smells it this morning then perhaps ask those people you know that keep them if they are missing one. Failing that not really sure - I wouldn't want to be the one that has to catch it)lol Good luck.
