Peter
Thank you for your detailed explanation of what I might be doing wrong - but I you haven't really told me what I should do - except that it should be down wind. Maggie is an extremely keen retriever - she is always wanting more and if anything I have problems calming her excitement down - when she is running back to me with the dummy in her mouth at 100mph I sometimes wonder if she is going to stop. She has never yet not wanted to retrieve and will not give up looking when asked to find it, but will keep coming back to me asking for help. She is always very happy when she finds it and does pounce on it. You may be right in that I'm moving too fast but with no direction I'm struggling on what to do next. I'm prepared to start from the beginning to teach her to go away from me but I need to know what I should do. If you don't use directions when doing a blind retrieve how does the dog know where to look?
