Karen/ Swimming/ Milo

Give Elsa a big hug from me, and glad to hear she is recovering well from her operation, I can remember all the worry you had with Maggie, but she sounds to have really settled down now, it is amazing when everything seems to just click into place, and all the hard work you have put in with her pays off.

Narla was our first Large Munsterlander and I thought I had trained in a good recall till the hunting instinct kicked in big time, and she suddenly developed cloth ears, but like Maggie and yourself we worked through it and she is such a good girl now, and I think having her is making it much easier training DD, she watches mum and just seem to follow her, so having Maggie has probably helped Elsa a lot too.

DD was swimming on a pole, they put them on a pole the first time for safety, as some dogs thrash about and panic their first time in the pool, if you see the first video DD didn't panic but she was doing a lot of splashing, but then after a few minutes they settle down and get into a better stroke and start to swim properly, next time she goes she will probably go on the pole for the first few minutes, and then once they see she is swimming OK they will let her swim on her own. The pool does have jets, but they don't put them on initially, as they are quite noisy, and DD will be going just for a Fun Swim.

When Narla had her accident a few years back, I took her to the same place and they gradually increased the amount of time in the pool, and then put the jets on, to help rebuild the muscles in her back legs, because she had stitches in and great big padded dressing and restricted exercise for quite a few months while her tendons healed she had some muscle wastage, but the swimming really helped to build them back up again, and it was much better than her running about, the pounding on grass could have hindered the healing process, whereas in water the dog becomes weightless, but still uses the muscles to swim with without causing any damage.

There are a lot of dogs who go with arthritic problems, or after surgery, but I just took Narla to help her tone up after the puppies, and I thought DD may as well have a go, at least if she falls in a lake or a canal now she will start to swim and not panic.

Which knowing the way DD hurtles along without looking where she is going is probably more than likely !!!!

Izzy has really grown Jean, I think she is very like mum round the eyes but more like Daddy Logi round the muzzle.

I had some pictures sent to me yesterday of Milo, he is definitely a lot like Logi and is also growing up fast into a really handsome boy.
Sorry the picture came before the text, not sure how to correct it.
