Noisy dogs

we too have dogs in the village that are allowed to stand at the front gate all day and bark at people going past. I think it makes them more aggressive if allowed to do it. If Maggie barks at anybody from our garden, I tell her that's enough, good girl. If she then continues she is brought inside. That way she knows she is allowed to draw my attention to someone coming but she is not allowed to continue barking.
