The puppies shouldn't have their 2nd jab until 10 weeks old, the reason for this is the Mum's anti bodies are still present and it can stop the vaccine being effective. The reason I like the first jab done at 7 weeks is it's for Parvo and not affected by Mum's anti bodies, it means they go with some protection, Rats carry Parvo amongst other things and where ever you live, Foxes and Rats often pass through gardens, so by getting the first one done you still have to wait until 10 weeks but it gives piece of mind for protection in the garden.
I was shocked to hear a dog die of Parvo locally just before Christmas so it's still around and very nasty.
I know it's frustrating as we want to get the babies out and about but to be honest adjusting to life with their families and life out and around the home and garden gives them plenty to adjust to. The other option is to do jabs at 8 and 12 weeks, but at least this way saves a couple of weeks. It's only two weeks to go, and then they can have them and get out and meet the big wide world!!!
