Sophie
When Sasha (the GSD bitch) was still alive, I had a problem with Louis lunging and barking at other dogs. It was almost as if he was protecting his "bitches"! He never actually came to blows with other dogs but, being a large GSD, he worried a lot of owners. However, since Sasha has gone he's completely calmed down, greets other dogs tail wagging and kissing. Sasha bullied him totally, obviously it's true what they say about the bullied become the bullies. These days it's Cassie who barks at other dogs, but only in an excited to see you kind of way. With Sid, I guess that his body language (tail erect) will cause an adverse reaction in other dogs - perhaps you could tie a white flag to it! Glad you managed to avoid the dog mess, even if you did end up on the ground.....
