Mandy, I put the collars on as soon as the babies wake up and are hyper, ready to play, yes they will stop and scratch and even moan but then all of a sudden they forget about them. Tetra actually showed off with her collar she was the first to get one on and she marched around head up and tail up!!! strutting as if to say look at me I'm different, basically she is her mothers daughter, we don't call Diva, Diva for no reason. Tetra's collar says Princess on it and boy she is definitely one in training, she will share the throne with Kiki.
Ann , yes there can be accidents with collars but only if they are on incorrectly, if they are too lose they can get their leg through the collar and if you have a cage where they can slide the collar onto the bars and trap them then it would be awful, but these days the cages are well designed. I actually don't have collars on my adults much at home as when they rough and tumble they can catch each others in them, but with puppies they need to get used to their collars and leads, so my advice it pop it on and ignore his protests he will get used to it, the only other thing I will say is start of with a light weight, soft one, not one with a bulky clip, or stiff leather, I have even used soft cat collars, but I always take the bell off and never put a flea collar on them by mistake.
At the end of the day all the puppies seem to be doing very well, Oscar included, most are reasonably house trained, most are sleeping quite well and getting used to being alone or at least away from their litter mates. Remember they are babies and will go through all sorts of odd growing stages, and at 7 weeks I think they and you are all coping exceptionally well. Relax and enjoy them, they will be big adults in a blink of an eye.
