Tessa I have been thinking about Evie, it could be to do with her diet, would you email me what you are feeding her on, I know that sounds odd but believe me it really could cause her to be dirty in the house, best not put it on the blog as every breeder has their own criteria which works for them, I know Evie wasn't bred by me but Christine and I do agree on things like this and I have spoken to her so I can advise you knowing we agree!
I have to say how surprised I was to hear that someone is concerned that it may be a inherent problem, (obviously not Tessa) but I would like to assure you being dirty in the house is not inbred and it can be just one of those things even the best breeder in the world can have a puppy which doesn't click, but I don't think that's the case with Evie I think it is likely to do with her diet and the time of day she is fed At 5 months it is a very long gap for her to have her tea at 4pm and them go right the way through till the morning, I know it seems the sensible thing to move feeds back so they are empty at bedtime, but to be honest if they are hungry it will unsettle their digestive system anyway. Tessa either e mail me or phone me or Christine as we both think we can help but need to know a bit more, for example how often and for how long does she go outside in the period between 4pm and 10pm, do you keep your back door open and how easy is it for her to get to the back door form where she is normally. No one is saying you have caused this either but I will say we all make mistakes, I am damn sure I will with Darcy even though I have had many many babies, it is human nature and first and foremost these dogs are all individuals and what works for one may not work for others. Just remember she will be clean and you will get there, that goes for my puppy owners too, they are babies still even at 6 months so you still have the opportunity to correct her behaviour.
Another reason I wont go into specific brands on here is because some suit some dogs and other don't an individual thing again and I certainly don't want dog food company's shouting at me, I do have experience having been part of Andrew's family business, where they manufactured such brands as our Berties, James wellbeloved and Burns, we don't anymore but I still remember what I learnt as a nutritionist! We are all hear to help and not judge anyone or any dog.
