Went out in the pouring rain this morning on walk about with Maggie and bumped into the local farmer. He asked me very nicely to keep to the footpaths now it's shooting season. We stood and chatted for a while during which time Maggie spotted a few pheasants and shot off after them. I grabbed the whistle and called her back and she skidded to a halt, turned round and came back!!!!!!!! I tried to hide my amazement and act as if she did that all the time )lol I told him about Maggie and how I was still in the process of training her. He said I should speak to the gamekeeper and ask if I could bring her along to the shoots and that I seem to have good control of her. But not sure if she is anything like the black labs they usually have which seem to behave like robots during a shoot! Think they may find Maggie a bit too enthusiastic!
